That's a good example of why not to race 1000cc sportbikes with a Z06. In the motorcycle magazine comparisons all the brands of sport bikes have very similar performance. The Hayabusa(1300cc sport-tourer) would have been even faster with a 186 top end, and those are stock bikes.
In the short time I've had the Z06 I also notice it's not nearly as stable as my R1 over freeway irregularities. It's gotten squirelly on me a few times and had traction control engage at 130-150 mph. The bike just keeps accelerating and maybe floats the front tire a little. It might have something to do with the suspension travel. I know the sportbikes generally have 5"-5.5" travel, anyone know how much travel the Z06 has? I haven't been over 150 mph yet in the car. I've only had it a week and clear road is a little hard to come by.
Although I've never done an actual car vs bike race, my buddy (darius240z.com) has. Here's a link to his site:

He used his supercharged Corvette motored 240Z against his R1 and as I recall, the car was just a hair quicker. I checked his site and he doesn't currently have that video clip up. I guess you'd have to buy one of his videos, or take my word for it.
The Z06 is definitely a cool car and I love it. But this comparison just reminded me to keep the Z06 mostly stock. If I want speed I can ride my bike. I think the last couple of bike vs car comparisons I read using a Z06 or a Viper at a road course, the cars got spanked pretty badly there too, something like 5-8 seconds per lap at Willow Springs (big track).
For you guys with bikes, you know what I'm talking about. For you guys without bikes, instead of spending a ton of money to make your car a little faster, consider spending about $10-15,000 on a bike and going real fast, real cheap. For all the drag race guys, consider that a stock 1000cc sport bike does the quarter in about 10 flat (11 seconds with a fat, crappy rider) at about 140. If you've been to the track I know you've seen the times.
If I can find a car group renting Button Willow, Thunder Hill, or Laguna Seca (at a reasonable price) for a track day, I'll let you know how the Z06 compares to the times I run at those tracks on my bike.
Since I don't have the hundreds of thousands it takes to make a car really fast, I think I'll be spending my car money on tires and seat time rather than modifications.
If any experienced Bay Area race guys are willing to teach me some driving skills I would love to meet at the go kart track in Burlingame. It's a lot cheaper and safer than going fast in the Z06. I'm willing to learn and want to have the same skills on 4 wheels as I do on 2.
