SomeWhere on this site i saw a post that gave a quick "How To"
on signature making, I believe the post was how to use micrograpx . Can anyone steer me towards that post? I would greatly appreciate it.

The following are some things I do to make a sig:
1.) Find out about the person (hobbies, job, where they live.....)
2.) Surf the inter net for images that I can use. (I use Google.com) Then I save them to a file I made for just sigs.
3.)Create a blank 450x60 pixel image. (Micrograx Picture Publisher 5.0)
4.) Color in the back ground with something.
5.) Mask off any props that I need from the other pics and create an object from the mask.
6.) Drag the objects to the new image.
7.) Move and alter the objects to desired place and size.
8.) Feather the object to soften the edge.
9.) Type the text into the desired location.
10.) Once the composition looks good I lock all the objects to the back ground.
11.) Smooth any ruff edges.
12.) Save as .jpg or .bmp image.
Then I'm done.

Keep in mind that not all software use the same terminology for the tools and commands that are used. I have tried but I'm sure that you could make a sig using MS Paint that comes with your computer.
This was on the "Custom Sig.s DIY" thread I made. If you have any other questions PM me I be glad to help.

PS 7.0 was used for this sig, much along the lines described by Z06nut.

1. Started with a blank frame, 60 by 450.
2. Layered in the checkered "ground", taken from a photo of my garage. You need to create a 30 x 450 segment. Used Edit-Transform-Distort to achieve the desired size and perspective for this segment.
3. Layered in the mountains, taken from a Whistler highway photo. This took the remaining 30 x 450 pixels. Now you have a complete basic sig with no cars and text.
4. Layered in the "left" Z06, taken from another image, but first put it into an intermediate working image with a transparent backgound. I then cut out the windows and copied the intermediate image to the sig. The transparent intermediate image with the cutouts allows the background in the sig to show through. I used Edit-Transform-Scale to resize the pasted image.
5. Took the intermediate image, did a flip horizontal and layered it into the sig as the "right" Z06.
6. Added the remaining elements i.e. Z06 logo and text to the right side of the sig. Drop shadow and other text treatment was done using layering commands.
7. Added a 2 pixel black border to the sig.

A bit simplified, but this gives you the basic approach. You might find it easier to work with a 240 by 1800 image and rescale it to 60 by 450 as the last step.

Hope this helps.

Jacob
