So how did it all get started ? --- Your obsession with fast cars
For me i can trace it back to 10 years old. My dad at the time had a 1986-7 ? iroc z28 i can remeber him takeing me out in it stoping in the middle of the road looking over at me telling me to hang on and smashing the gas lol We didnt stop till 120-130
I will never forget that as long as i live. When we pulled into the driveway he looks at me and says " dont tell mom " hahaha
Ever since that day ive been hooked on various forms of speed
Whats your story ?

FEAR THE MIATA
1965 Chevelle Malibu SS, 327 4speed trans. My second car, at age 18, got me hooked on going fast. That need laid dorment for 35 years until I bought my Z. Now I'm back with a vengence.
Going to the track with my sister. She is almost nine years older than me and she loves cars. She took me to the drags with her and I never forgot it. I wasn't old enough to see over the fence. Gas dragsters smoking the tires the complete quarter mile. Super Stock cars back when they ran 413's, 409's and 406 Fords. I was hooked big time. It was something I will never forget and it set the tone for what I drive today and how I drive it.

Started with my first car in high school (a 69 Boss 429 Mustang) and then bought a SD-455 Pontiac which I still have. Every car ive owned has been high performance.
My Z06 is nice but I get alot more looks, thumbs up and comments in my SD-455.

The summer when I was 17 I saw a dark blue L82 Vette, with white leather interior sitting on a dealers lot. I sat in it and its been downhill ever since. Bought my first Vette about 5 months later, an orange 76.
I still can't figure out if my dad was mad at me buying that car, or proud that I was paying for it myself.
Like 99Corvetteguy...it started early...before I could drive even. There was this dude from away who had new 1956 Ford Crown Victoria. That car was fast it would pass everything and got to 120 in what seemed like 5 seconds :jawdrop: It was about that time I saw and heard in the flesh a 56 Vette...never really been right since

My uncle started it all... he was a Pontiac nut. He took my brother and I out for a ride in a 1969 Firebird with a 400cid, 4-speed and black on black (wheels were black too!). He told my brother and I... "Don't tell your mom we did this".
He rev'd the engine, dumped the clutch and must have laid 300 feet of pure rubber! Smoke was everywhere... he was laughing the entire time. Something I will never forget.
I went on to buy a 71' Chevelle SS and owned it for 23 years. Sold it to buy the Z06 and never looked back.

Briann, do you have any pics of your SD 455? A friend of mine is a huge Pontiac nut.

I was about 12 when I started reading the Cartoons mags about Big Daddy Don Garlits, Connie Kalitta, Art Malone, Tommy Ivo, Bob Glidden. When I was 16 I got to drive a '57 Vette that my older sister's boyfriend had tricked out... 283 bored to 301, solids, cam, 327 heads, 2 series C Carter AFB's, muncie 4 speed with hurst linkage etc. ran 11.3 in the 1/4. That did it for me. Hooked.

I guess my car addiction goes back as far as I can remember.Playing with the neighbor kids cars and trucks when he wasn't home.Pedal cars, tricycles then bicycles,I always had a need for speed and loved racing and going fast.Growing up in the 60s I had slot cars, built model cars and remember when Hot Wheels were invented.I had every Hot Wheel ever made and would race them daily. These toys taught me about car names and types.Every time a neighbor would buy a new car,I would check it out.The lady next door bought a brand new 64 Mustang and it was a neighborhood curiosity among the big sedans.I watched all the old commercials in the muscle car era.It was obvious back then, which cars were muscle cars and which were not.My father was a US Marshall and drove "State cars".Mostly unmarked Fury lll Plymouths with Police Interceptor 440s.The speed limit was 70 back then, but he always drove 80,85.He would get pulled over by State Patrols and just walk back and bs with them for a minute and leave, since he knew them all.I think speed may be in the genes,Dad liked racing too.He raced for Indian motorcycles before WWll.
My first car was a 69 Charger with a 440 6pac and a 4sp.I was in the Navy in Lemoore Ca.Central CA.has a lot of flat open nowhere and few cops,so you might say I had a bit of fun in that car.It was the fastest car in the valley or at least I never lost.I've owned nothing but fast cars since.Chevelles,Trans Ams,Mopars,Vettes and many more cars have had thier gas pedals stomped to the floor by my lead foot.I can't help it.It's Genetic.

Just when you think they can't get any stupider, they keep talking.
Actually, I was 12 and my dad had a new 54 ford V8 and was taking my sister and me to the dentist ... he says "let's see what this thing will do" ... and we saw 100+ on a long downhill grade ... then at 16 I'm in Great Bend, KS for one of the early NHRA drag meets ... and then there were the highway drags ... county line to the bridge ... about 3/8 mile, and then there was the exhaust cut-out I put on the 59 family Ford --- but I couldn't hide it from my dad ... and then there was the Minneapolis Moline tractor that would do 25 in fifth gear ... ... good thread!
BTW ... Mike ... (WVPhoto) ... I want to read the "rest of the story"

I've always loved cars and women...both are very sexy to me and I feel very passionate about it! Been that way since I was "old enough" and I'll die that way...some of the best things about being a man!!
