Apparently, he was in and out of traffic. This guy said he was behind him and passed him. Then passed another car and pulled back in front of that car. At that time he lost control and slammed into the tree (or pole). It erupted instantly. Most people do 50+ on this stretch so I would estimate speed at 60-70 if he was passing and threading traffic.

There is a lession in this. Rob, even though he did a stupid thing, died.

It was SO UNNECESSARY.

Lets learn a lesson from his death. Think before doing something of this nature just because you feel so impervious driving your Vette with all that HP.

That's real bad news. Even though I didn't know him, I'm sorry he's gone. I'm sure he left many friends and loved ones behind.

Ya know, I was just thinking the other day.... I have had my '04 for one month and 1 week now, and have decided that I am NOT superman. Oh ya, I'm not 24 anymore either.
I have backed off a lot in the last few days. Which is not to say I drive slow now....
