Son out of Iraq week of April 6th

With all the excitement around here, I forgot to tell everybody the good news, our youngest son, Jason, departed Iraq about the 6th of April, sat in Kuwait until the 20th. He is now back in Germany. Was very fortunate, he was part of the 1st Armored Div that was returned to Iraq for another 90 - 180 days, but because his unit is standing down, they had to get back to Germany to turn in equipment, and he is headed for his next school. He's going to be a medic, which probably means he's headed back to Iraq later this year. But he is doing fine, and sounds good.

That's great news! Is he going to get any home time?

He's hoping to get some time, right now he's trying to get his class dates changed so he can travel around Germany on leave for two weeks. He didn't have much of a chance to see the sights, he arrived in Germany in February 2002, went to Graf. three times for field exercises on the ranges, then deployed to Kawait, then drove directly to Baghdad and engaged in the activities.
He is hoping if things work out he might be able to stop here on his way to Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio. The other good thing is his next assignment, headed for Hunter Army Airfield in the Savannah, Ga area as a medic. That's about a 6 1/2 hour drive from here, so visitation should be easier.

Glad to hear he is safe and out of the hot zone. God bless him.

My nephew just left for Iraq last week. He is an Army UAV pilot.
