Tapping from Camaro Engine - anyone got any ideas?

I am up at my sister's for Chrstmas in Mountain Home, ID, and was going to take the '67 out for a spin. We are getting a metalic tapping sound coming out of the carb. It is a lot louder under power. I am not an engine expert, but can't think of anyting in a carb that would make a RPM related tapping sound.

Anyone got any thoughts or ideas?

It is a 327, btw.

Thanks

Kevin

Probably a lifter, but it could be a pushrod as well. (or something more sinister) Try to get a mechanic friend to listen. A trained ear can tell alot.

Check the rocker arms first make sure that's all good than work your way down rocker stud, pusrod, lifter and lastly the cam. also could be a bent or sticky valve has the car been sitting for a while?

The car has been sitting, it gets used very little. In fact, I was going to help the give it the once over before they put it on the market.

I will try to get someone who knows more about these listen to it.
