For fun and giggles I looked at the completed items on EBay for the 2007 Shelby GT500 and found one where someone paid $5000 to be INTRODUCED to a dealer that has an allocation !
Ya- introduced -not $5000 over sticker- after this introduction- you get the honor of buying the car for MSRP plus what ever over the dealer wants- and someone bought this- unbelieveable !
Hell- I know my local dealer is going to get a few-I'll gladly drive this guy over there in my Z and introduce him for a cool $1000.......or a discount of $4000-

I teased all the dealers in my area and said I was looking for a C6 Z06.The first one called with a Yellow one for over 100k then two called with a Yellow one and a Red one for 85k.Now,I get a call with a black one for 77k.Hard to resist,but I can't afford it really.By this time next year I figure I'll find an 06 for 60k or less.Sooner or later the next fad will arise and the buying craze will be over.I'm in no hurry,my 03 is easy to suffer with.Maybe I'll just Mod my 03 and save 50k.

This is EXACTLY why I purchased a Viper. The car I am waiting on stickers at 87,500 and I am getting the car WAY under sticker. I couldn't get a reasonable deal on a new Z06 or a Shelby Mustang....
GM dealers are doing the same thing as they did in 01 with the 385HP Z06. I got my 2002 Z06 for 4 k off sticker....
The whole thing is ridiculous...I was going to wait a year or two for the Z06...but why wait with a great deal staring me in the face......
The best thing is that with the unavailability of the new Z06, my car brought a lot more than I expected and gave me a great down payment on the new car.
I love Corvette.....but we all gotta do what we gotta do.

OK, I'm in the hunt for a new Z06. Search the web and find a Chicago suburban dealer who has a yellow one (my '01 and '03 were/are both yellow) so I emailed them asking pricing. Got a call from them. Yellow sold but they had an incoming blue which was my second choice.
Me: "how much?"
Salesman: "10k over sticker" (about 82k)
Me: "I'll ONLY consider sticker or less"
Salesman: "These are all presold you know"
Me: "OK, call me if you ever go sticker or less"
End of conversation!
Couple days later the salesman calls again advising that he just "took in" (in trade) a yellow C6 Z and they would let that one go for 78k or about 8k over its original sticker (no nav).
Guess I just don't speak good english.
OMG, he's back with another one! Item number 4637665500.
I wonder if he's relisting it because the original winning bidder backed out. I'd almost bet that the bidder thought he/she was getting the car for $5k over sticker, not just an introduction.
Don't be too hard on GM. With the way they are losing money and market share, they need all the $$ they can get. God forbid GM goes under - the C7 vette may be made by Toyota!
