I have an '03 Z06 with the black leather seats. On a trip last year to Bowling Green Kt for a Corvette Delivery Experience, which I highly recommend, the drivers seat side bolster split open when I sat down in the seat. Turns out there is a metal flap that holds the side of the seat to keep you in place during hard cornering. The edge of the metal split the leather, so now I have about a 2 inch tear in the leather covering. Does anyone know where you can get replacement black leather I could buy to get a shop to replace that one panel, and how should I keep the metal flap from cutting the leather again? Has anyone run into this before, what did you do to fix it? I saw a pair of seats on eBay for $1000, but that seems a bit extreme for a 2 inch tear.

Thanks for any help.
My seat tore in the same place on my 2006 Z and my dealer replaced it under warranty. It should be available through a GM dealer. I know my dealer ordered the bottom cover for the seat in error, sent that back and got the cover for the back.
Let me know if you can't find one and I'll talk with my dealer for mor info.

Thanks for the tip. I will check with the dealer. I did ask their body shop before, and they didn't say anything usefull. Suggested I get it glued back together. Not.
mine did also a few yrs ago, heard that's a common spot.
you might try a local shop.
I ended up making my seats into sport seats because I wanted the pass-through for belts anyway. I had them recovered and added extra padding on the driver seat
My dealer did get me a new seat cover for $189, not bad for leather. Now I just need to install it. Hopefully it is not too difficult. I assume I unzip it, and off it comes and on the new one goes. I will let you know what happens. Thanks for the tip! Bill

My dealer had to make a stitch or some stitches when he installed mine. Better check with your dealer or call mine at1-888-829-3401 and ask for Dave in service. Good luck.
Talk with dealerships to see who they outsource. Most of the time they will do it cheap for cash. Its amazing to see how well they can repair leather seats.
Just to close out the discussion, I ended up replacing the seat back foam too. You can buy it for about $70 from the dealer. The side support frame had cut through the foam and leather, which was why it split. The leather cover unzips, and the cover comes off easily. I removed the seat first, a 5 minute job. The foam just slips of the seat back frame. I put the new foam on, slipped the new cover on and fastened it with the velco strips, and zipped it up. Reinstalled the seat, and the whole thing was done in about 45 minutes. Easiest repair I have done thus far.
