Trailblazer SS

I'm looking at a used TB/SS to add to my 01 Z06. 2WD with only 2700 miles. Asking 30,500, does this sound like a fair price? Also, would anyone with carfax mind running the VIN for me?

Thanks!!

used GM Company Car.

Low VIN - looks like it was a pilot build.

Is this a bad thing?

GM company car is not good. I'd take $5K off just for that. A new Trailblazer SS should be bought around invoice. I'd tally up the car on Edmunds with your options and see what you could get a new one for first.....or ask the dealer for the invoice. Then take at least $5K off and then deduct at least $3K for the miles. $30K sounds high but I don't know what invoice is. Keep in mind that a 2WD is almost sale proof in most parts of the country. If your keeping it for longer than the factory warranty then I'd definately get an extended bumper to bumper warranty. I drove one (4WD) last week and it was very fun. Also, they are going to do a major change to the front sheet metal (maybe more) for '07 so you will have a dated truck in less than a year. You gotta steal this one to feel good about it IMHO.

MSRP is around 38k for this model, I'm not sure what the invoice is. It has all the options except for 4WD, which I don't need in South Carolina.

I'm a little naive about the company cars. What do they use them for and with this VIN# can you tell for sure it's a GM company car?

Wow. It must have every single option but 4WD. A GM company car could have been used for a variety of things but most likely the miles weren't put on in a loving fashion. I'm guessing that invoice is around $35K so I wouldn't want to pay a penny over $27K. I'd feel better for you if you got it for $25K. And that's only if the truck is perfect.

I agree that the price is too high, but it doesn't mean that someone won't pay it. I plan on buying one in the next 2-3 years so I've been watching them closely. Keep in mind that the majority of sales were bought very cheaply compared to sticker. There were guys getting base models brand new for 26-28k. Fully loaded AWD's were being bought for 32-34k new.

If it has every option minus 4wd, it would be closer to $37k I think. Building one how I want it it rings up to $34.7k and thats with the base radio and no sun roof and a couple other small things not added in.

Yet another example of the "diluting" of the beloved SS designation.......

I test drove the TBSS last night again but this time I was able to really "drive" it. For a truck that weights in at 4600 lbs it really moves! The rear tires broke loose with ease and the handling was really tight on the on/off ramps (only place I could hit the corners). I'm going to have alot of fun with this thing! I'm very impressed.

So you are going to buy it? Congrats!

One question, does it seem like the throttle and transmission are completely disconnected? By that, I mean does a slight (or drastic) change in throttle position result in an immediate acceleration or downshift? I ask, because my parents 05 Suburban is horrible about this. You can floor the gas and it does nothing for about a second, and then it will slam down to the right gear and take off. It bugs the hell out of me and I'm worried the TB SS might be plagued with this same problem.

Yes sir! I pick it up next week.

As far as the throttle response, it seems ok to me. I haven't owned a automatic in a longtime but the trans seems to downshift pretty quickly.

And for being stock, this thing has a fantastic exhaust rumble!
