I chose Earthlink. Company I have delt with before and trusted.
I've had my website with them for a year now with no issues and recently bought a second one with them solely for my AMSOIL dealership I am working on. Prices, bandwidth, etc are all here: http://www.earthlink.net/biz/hosting/
My wife has two sites. One is run through crystaltech and the other is through hostpc.
She just recently started a site with hostpc. We have been using crystaltech for a few years, but she started checking prices/bandwidth/etc and found some better deals elsewhere.
She also looked at vervehosting.com and found it had high ratings on epinions.com.
I remember her saying it was kind of tough to find reliable feedback on hosting plans, but she is the tech person not me - so I can just pass on these pieces that I recall.

I am using Powweb for both my personal site, and a car club site. For that, it has been fine. I don't know what they do for eCommerce or anything, but the price and reliability have been good enough for my stuff.
Got some more data from my wife.
Forgive me if it doesn't make sense, I'm doing a little cut and paste here.
Crystaltech:
We had them and are moving away from them. I asked her why we were switching and here is her response.
Crystaltech is overpriced, tech support has gotten less helpful and more rude, and the spam filters aren't working well. They also have terrible uptime for their servers, according to that netcraft website. On the other hand, I rarely notice my site being down (although it was two days ago, but I'm not sure for how long) and they're pretty good about updating the servers with new software. They only run IIS which is our main reason for moving away - I want Apache.
Host PC:
This is our new web host and here is what she had to say:
Very impressed with HOstpc so far, especially considering the cost. They pre-install scripts so with a click of a button I installed a content management system, with no extra cost to me. These are the scripts that are pre-installed. http://www.hostpc.com/index.php?opti...18&Itemid=4 5
As for checking others, she suggested the following:
you can tell him to check out www.netcraft.com to check on host uptime and to see what servers they are running. Go to that site and use the "what is that site running" search box near top left
When she chose to use hostpc she also looked at Dreamhost, Verve, and LunarPages.
If you want more info, pop me a PM and I will run it through her.
Good luck with your choice. She ended up with a spreadsheet comparing storage, bandwidth, email accounts and other features.

Thanks for the advice. I signed up with Hostgator. Seems like decent value for disk space and bandwidth. Plus they have a load of features including a Forum builder. Can you say lots of sleepless nights in front of the computer?
