A buddy and I went to Gainesville yesterday to watch some qualifying for the Gator Nationals. All I can say is WOW.

You can't truly comprehend the power of those cars until you see them in person, TV just doesn't do them justice. If you've never been to a top fuel event, you owe it to yourself to go at least once. I felt rather insignificant driving home in the Z with my puny 405 hp.

I've been saying it over and over - I'm glad you went...I grew up in it...My Dad raced TopFuel for 30 yrs..These lil NASCARS and others is just a joke when you see it ...NO DISRESPECT though I love all forms of racing...But the Top fuel dragster is just

I was there on Friday and it was my first time at a TF event. What was most impressive was watching a driver "let-off" at the 300 ft mark and coast through the trap with a 7.96 @ 101 mph...That was insane. Additionally, after more than 25 years in aviation I thought I knew what LOUD was......NOT!!!
It's almost incomprehensible that a human can control one of those things.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I've been going to IHRA & NHRA drag races since the early 70s. I remember the first time I ever saw a rear engine Top Fueler. It was Don Garlits at Rockingham NC. Sure was funny looking at the time
but it was the fastest thing at the track.

We were there on Fri. as well. Did you drive your Z? We saw lots of Corvettes in the parking area (had to walk about a mile to get to the stands) including a great looking TR Z.

Yup, I drove the Z...couldn't pass it up on such a nice day. Saw a few other vettes but no other Z's.

I think the most amazing thing that happend was the all H-D final in Pro-Stock Bike! Finally, Andrew Hines gets his first win with to go along with the hundreds that Vance & Hines have garnered over the years. Running 7.0s at 190 on a (sort of) V-Rod is a feat ONLY V&H could have pulled off. Congrats to all the winners, but the first win for H-D with V&H is tops.
