What would you trade off....would you trade off slower top end speed for faster 0-60

I am curious. I would rather go faster from 0 to 60 or the 1/4 mile; than go 170 mph. If General Motors says I can make you a car that goes for example 11.5 stock in the quarter mile, but you will lose 20 mph in the top end....would you like that?

Yea, I would have to go to Nevada to find the room to get to the top end. Good to know that I could get there. Meanwhile I work the car below 170 and enjoy every minute of it.

I want both... and it's called a C6Z06.

Vicious quickness and a higher top end.

It's gonna be great !

How big a deal is it to change the ring and pinion? That would do it. Maybe going to 3:73sor4:11s Anybody make them?

Don't let me rain on anyone's parade...

I agree that it is difficult to ever get a chance to _safely_ use the top-end of a car like this.

But, lowering the rear gear ratio even further (while theoretically accomplishing your goals) will more than likely lead to much more massive wheelspin...and could very well slow you down 0-60. It might not have this affect in a longer race like the 1/4 mile, as you would finally get traction and be able to take advantage of the increased torque multiplication of the new gearset.

But, if you're beyond the traction coefficient, then adding more gear is not going to help the situation.

If you race on slicks, then by all means ... GO FOR IT!

Want both... but if it were a this or that.... 0-60 & 1/4 speed.

Lots of places to do 0-60

Was listening to gumball rally this afternoon and heard the phrase:
"55 is a lie. Fast enough to kill you but slow enough to make you think you are safe."

As Wes said

150 is plenty, and some 3:73's, 3:90's..........could very well put you in the mid 11's.............
But, I am LONG past the days of roaring around town at 4000rpm, in 3rd gear..........doing 50 mph...........
First gear would be NEAR useless, with 3:90's/4:10's...........IMIHO....................

On the same topic............

I would( being from the old fart school), like to be able to ORDER by option codes AGAIN................
If you wanted 3.73's.........order them, if you want 4.10's......same deal......
This would be a nightmare( if it encompassed the entire line).
But, for JUST the Vette's, and Z's...........I think it would be great.....and, also a profit maker/center for GM..........

Gear Change

Nothing like a steeper gear to give your car more power. Biggest bang for the buck . And with the advent of 5 and 6 spd transmissions, you don't have to buzz around town at 5000rpm.
And by the way, I wouldn't change anything either. Perfect the way it is.
