Who would win?

Between a pitbull and and a wolf

An employee had to leave work early today for an emergency and I volunteered to watch her 9 and 7 year old sons. And this is one of the MANY questions they bombarded me with.

At first I was like, d*mn they sure do talk alot, but sitting here, that is an interesting question.

My money is on the Pit Bull:

I work in a town where a lot of the young "people" (being nice), have Pit Bulls. It's kind of a status symbol, if you know what I mean. Well anyway, I've been attacked by a few of them, and over the years our department has shot about 10 of them when they were attacking officers. (actually some were ordered by the owners to attack) Several of them have survived being shot more than once at close range.

Pit Bulls are fast as lightning, bite hard and don't let go, and go for the throat. They also have large, very hard heads and deep jaws. When one goes bad, they are a very "bad" dog to deal with!!
(I should point out that they are bred by the owners this way. They can be the nicest dogs in the world, but not the ones we deal with)

I love dogs, and it breaks my heart to see how some of these dogs are raised.

Wolves are pack animals, and rely on numbers.

Don't know if you wanted a serious answer, but there's my $.02

Joe

Joe,

Here is one for you that they threw on me as well.

Who can do a better raid on a house, S.W.A.T. or Green Berets.

It felt like I was on Jeopardy with these two , but they kept laughing all evening long. Was a great change of pace.

That's easy! Green Berets..... they don't have to take names or leave survivors.

No Contest!

Ive lived around wolves in Alaska, Minnesota and now Idaho. Wolves make a living by killing. Sure, they are pack animals but a mature lone wolf is more than a match for a mature lone pit bull. Ive investigated several wolf kills and have seen many instances where a wolfs bite had crushed a big elk femur.

In Minnesota wolves that had home ranges near urban areas used dogs as a significant part of their diet in the winter. Ive discussed this topic with quite a few folks who have dogs and live around wolves and the concensus is no one had ever heard of any dog defending itself against a wolf. A single wolf caught up with a pack of Cougar hounds here in Idaho a few years ago and killed most of the pack. Think of it as a Corn "Pit Bull" Dog on a stick.

OK...so do I get the Kid sitting job next time??

Silvertp: If your ever in the Camden NJ area, we'll take in the dogs fights one night. Just kidding. Just throwing in my opinion about pit bulls. Not many wolves in my area of Jersey, but I doubt there are many city Pit Bulls in yours. These kids train these dogs to fight to the death.

BTW: Anybody know what is one of the best non-leathal ways to stop a dog from attacking you???? (No cops, that's cheating)

grab the bottom of the dog's mouth. the dog will feel as though you are holding him, release his jaws and retreat.

A: Blast him with the fire extinguisher from the trunk of the police car. It works about 95% of the time. Pretty much a standard practice in our department.

Five-O

You got me there friend. Ive seen more grizz and wolves than pit bulls. If I ever get out to your neck of the woods lets load up on fire extinguishers and walk the back streets!

Kids can ask the craziest questions..Its funny to hear you try and find the answer..As I read into this post..I'm interested in the answers as well!

Fireextingisher is a good one 5-0-Joe!

Killer pit bull or wolf..???? How do these kids think of these questions..

I say killer trained pit bull!

Never actually saw a wolf in the wild kill except on tv where it does seem to be a pack issue..

What is a cougar hound?
