Will GM sell 5K 70K Z06's per year? How many 911s sold each year?

Just shooting the breeze but there are many who think 5000 units of a 70 grand C6 Z06 is a tough nut to meet...

I was wondering if Porsche sells 5,000 911's per year..year after year?

Anybody know as it might lend insight as to whether this 70 grand Corvette will actually hit its sales target throughout the production run..?

Maybe thats why the 100,000 dollar blue devil is being considered.....Volume would be lower but margin would be higher...?

What do U think?

I was at the Dana facility awhile back where they assemble the aluminium frame for the new Z and was told that they will build 7000 frames per year. I think that GM will pretty much sell all they can build.

Porsche has sold 1961 base 911's (997 models - their least expensive 911) this year through the end of June. They've sold 1680 997S models over the same period.

Yead to date through the end of June Porsche has sold a total of 4698 911's of all models, which is about the same number sold in the first six months of 2004.

I personally think they will rebate the Z06 at the same level as what they did with the 04....

In 2002 I got 4k off sticker in sept 01, and we saw 10k off sticker for some of the z16 cars.......

I think it will happen after the new wears off...and that puts the new Z06 at around 55k base, which is well within my price range

I don't need no stinkin GPS!

Some how I think what Porsche sells is not the yardstick.

How many Vipers Dodge is able to sell is a better measure in my mind.

At the head office facility of an oil field service company I work for here in Houston there are 3 Corvettes. Mine, a 97 Coupe and a 1995 LT4.

By contrast there is 1 x 993, 6 x 996's and 2 x 997's of varying flavours.

For the record only one of the guys is a "performance car enthusiast". The rest "bought a Porsche". I just don't see a $80,000 Corvette selling the way Porsches do.

It is going suffer the same fate the Ford GT has.

Thanks for the insight Dock and others...

I believe it will give good insight to what GM can achieve with the Z06 @ 70g's..

I think we will all know next year when they have been delivering them . The first ones may get snatched up like the 90ZR1's did.

Yeah I knew that when I spoke to all the guys that I knew that had exotics and none were buying the GT that it was going to do the rock in a wet paper bag act. Imagine the guys that bought at 260K and now they are down almost 100K before 8 months is up.
