Z06 Gearing

I posted this on the CF site in the z06 section and got no response so I`ll try here.

I have an 03 Z on order and was wondering if anyone has installed either the 3:90 or 4:10 rears in their Z? I know a few have in the LS1 cars and before I decided to trade, I was going to the 4:10s in my HT. Anyone?

With the Z's short gearing in the trans it doesn't make as much sense to swap to 4.10s, and I think even 3.90s would be too much. You might try 3.73s, but I think you'd be better off driving it first, then deciding it you really need shorter gears.

(1st gear stock is REALLY short as it is)

Ah, a reply. I am going to at least break in the motor first but I didn`t realize about the shorter ratio. I was thinking of doing the exhaust and intake [i/]and[/i] the rear all at once so I`m gathering as much info now as I can.
First gear in the HT can hit the rev limiter if I`m not careful. I`d just like to scare the you know what out of the local clubbers who are know it alls without revealing the tricks. There aren`t too many Z`s here but crushing is more fun than just stomping. I would imagine drag radials are mandatory even for the street with this set up.

Thanks, I will take the advice. Just wanted to make one trip to the tuner.

No problem.

For future information the Z has different gearing than the FRC, Coupe, or Vert in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th.

I'm not sure right off the bat about the 1-3 gear ratios, but 5th is a .85:1 instead of the MN6's .75:1, and 6th is .56:1 instead of .50:1

(Of course, its the 1-3 ratios you're looking at)

Thanks guys. Should be quite a change from the HT which I think is pretty quick. No track times though.
Mike;
I had planned to move to Albuqureque after I retired in 94 but couldn`t for health reasons. Been out there a couple of times and liked it a lot.

Too bad you couldn't make it. This area is really nice, lots of sun, theres a really nice race track here (road course). Only problem is the altitude
