Z06 Track Test Shootout....New Road & Track Magazine
I just received my new Road & Track magazine, and they did a track test of the Z06, vs. Nissan 350 Z (track model), vs. BMW M3 SMG II, vs. Porsche 911 Targa. The Z06 spanked the competition pretty bad! Road & Track usually is the worst magazine for getting horrible times out of cars (the last Z06 they tested ran a 13.1 1/4), but they managed to break into the 12's with this Z06 at 12.8@113.5. The M3 and 911 ran 13.5, and the 350 Z ran a slow 14.4@99.7. The Z06 won every performance category except slalom speed, where it came in second to the M3. The Z06 dominated braking, acceleration, lateral acceleration and track times. Around the racetrack, the Z06 beat all the others by 4 seconds! It also turned .98g lateral acceleration and 114 ft. stopping distance from 60 mph (204 ft. from 80 mph), easily beating the other three cars. The only thing the editors griped about was the interior. At the end of the article they rank performance per dollar of the cars and the Z06 scored a perfect 10 rating! All in all, a great showing for our car, even though it was competing against cars in a lower performance class.

I don't have a problem with a senior editor or his mom taking the car around the track. If they want to put his or her times in the magazine it's ok with me. But thats not why I paid $3.99 for it. I want to know what a professional driver that is familiar with the car can do driving it on the edge. I suggest 2 time columns. One for his mom and one for a real driver.
I hear ya. I gave up on the R & T Euro rag years ago.
Kind of my thoughts to, all Euro and Japo, as soon as this script runs out it will not be renewed, but it is where I first learned about the Z06.
Anyway the article was all about the Nissan, but they couldn't deny the .06 and I loved it!
