Zo6 with Supercharger AND Nos only runs 12s....what gives?? PLUS Viper vs Z06 footage

Sup guys...considering im not familiar with this forum I wasn't sure where to post this so I'll try here

I was at the MMP track in Alabama on saturday for a mustang vs ls1 event and there was a Supercharged/Nos z06 who was racing a supercharged Viper all day long. I got all 4 passes on video

Out of 4 passes the z06 didnt' even break the 11s....now im no expert but I know a stock z06 can run 11s and low 12s with a great driver and good weather/track conditions...but this guy has a supercharger AND nos....something is just not right.

Plus he needed two power adders just to compete with the viper???? and he lost everytime :(...he even stalled it one time :( :ity: :ity:

Even though I dont' like the way this viper sounded the z06 really disappointed me :(

The race videos plus all the other videos I made saturday can be found here:

This is a funny post.

The viper definetly did not JUST have a supercharger. I know you hear that HUGE cam idling. Either way with that kind of setup even a mild one the VIPER should have been faster too.

The zo6 was trapping ok. 124ish. Should be more with the nitrous though. Regular magnusson blown zo6s trap that and then some. ZO6 also needed some traction, blowing it off the line wont help you run #'s. 19s in the front were probably killing the car too.

Either way the VIPER won 4 times. Kudos to him. Drivers win races, everyone knows that. He knew how to drive his car better than the zo6 guy.

Hey Kamran, why dont you run that zo6 with 1 poweradder its yellow. You should have no problem beating that with your BUILT and BOOSTED mustang.. :oo:
Hey wait a second, didnt that zo6 beat your blown mustang when he was stock!

HEY!

Let's not stir from the topic here!

First of all, when you raced me you were n/a and I was NOT built...i just had the blower with basically the same rwhp as you....and considering i was on street tires and weigh about 500 pounds more than you it's a no brainer that you pulled on me.

Second of all, the z06 could have ran 12.0s n/a....he put two power adders on it and it didn't run any faster....something is just wrong there.

Yes your right. But SPINNING does not help times.

FOR example. Car and Driver just did a tuner shootout on tv. The 800hp z06 and 800hp viper ran something like 11.6 at 136 and 11.X at 147. Dont quote me on the #'s but its something like that. Definetly in the high 11s.

Unless your running slicks your not going anywhere with ALOT OF POWER.

okay I didn't pay attention to what tires he was running but I would assume it was at least drs on the car.

He has all that money for the z06, supercharger, nos and i saw he had a labtop with tuning software and he can't afford slicks?

Unless you have the proper tires for traction (DR's minimum) all the power in the world us useless unless you can get it to the ground. It's extremely difficult on street tires to get into the 11's irregardless how much power you have. Actually, the more power you have, the more driver skill comes into play.

I have seen TT cars that won't get into the 11's on street tires. With that much power, street tires just can't get a bite. No traction, no decent et.

1) Yes traction played a roll.
2) That guy needs to work of his driving skills. I don't care if he's on this board or not. A fast car, lots of money do not a good driver make.
3) Maybe it was the glare from the supercharger blinding him. Perhaps if he put his hood back on he wouldn't be so distracted...
4) That Viper did sound bad, as in the not good, bad.

As others have said, it's all about traction (and practice)!

Anyone who thinks they can just slap on some tires and go to the strip with a big hp/tq Z and get into the low 11's or 10's is kidding themselves. Even with the right meats on the car, it takes considerable practice to learn the best launch technique, shift times, etc unless you are already a very accomplished drag racer.

Go all the way back to NO MERCY's 9 second run 3 years ago. How many could have made that time on just their second pass except SW and he has tons of experience.

Mike

This guy needs tires & a line lock. He couldn't get a proper burnout. With just those 2 things he will drop his time by at least a second.
