Air fuel ratio question

Hi guys
just wanna ask a question about corvette c6 z06 air fuel ratio ...
I tuned the car using diablosport programmer and i installed diablo tune but i modified the this parameters:
wot spark
air fuel ratio

I cheked the air fuel ratio by using inovate air fuel ratio gague and it was bwtween 14.7 at low rpm and 11.3 at high rpm ( full throttle )
is it saftety for the car now or it is very rich?
What is the best air fuel ratio reading which is safe and gain more hp ?

Car is moded:
Full exhaust ( Lt headers )
k&n cold air intake
diablo sport tune
Thanx all

Re: Air fuel ratio question

14.7 is the optimum a/f ratio for economy. The LS engines seem to like 13:1 for making the most power, but you've got to be careful since this is not the only factor. You don't say if your readings were taken on a dyno or just sitting in your driveway. I'd suggest you find a top-notch tuner with access to a dyno.

14.7 is what you want for normal idle/driving once the car is up to operating temp. (It'll be a bit richer when the engine is cold). Ideal WOT AFR for max power should be around 12.8-13.0. 11.3 is pig rich and is definitely hurting your performance, not to mention fuel economy! I don't know if you can manipulate your MAF tables enough with the Diablo to get it leaned out enough for max power,,,,you might need to get it to a tuner who knows his shite and uses HPTuners, EFILive or LS1edit to get it really dialed in.
You can do this on the street as long as your wideband is accurate and you can safely run WOT in 2nd and 3rd gear for a while without getting busted for speeding or worse. Hope this helps.

Re: Air fuel ratio question

Since the replacement costs of CATs are high, that feds force GM to 8 year smog warranty of them the PCM has a Cat Over Temp (COT) function to protect CAT from high temps.

PCM monitors CAT temps via 02 sensors and depending on elevation the COT trips on between 900-1,000 degrees.
If each exhaust primary runs 250 plus degrees that is easy 1,000 degrees at the collector and easy to trip COT on.

You cannot dial in PE (WOT) AFR without first tuning COT as the whole purpose of COT is when CAT is hot to protect it the COT dumps excess fuel in to cool down temps.

WOW. Anything under 12:5:1 on a n/a car is way too rich. 13:0:1 is optimal.
14:7:1 is optimal for low rpm cruising without a heavy load on the engine. Just my $.02.
