California Emissions Control

Anyone know if there is a performance difference between an 07 Z06 made for California emissions compared to other states. I understand they do change the computer chip in the California car but I do not know what the effect is. Thanks.

They are all the same - all new Corvettes are 50-state certified.

FE9 is the code for the emissions option. It is an optional add on for California. I wonder how exactly it changes a ZO6.

Not sure. Don't most cars dyno about the same, regardless of state?

I don't understand why they offer the option code FE9. I purchased a new Z06 in Nashville Tn., licensed in Tn. The car was 50 state legal and said meets California emission on the emission sticker.

Still not sure what the difference is. This is important to me because I can purchase an 07 ZO6 but it has the FE9 option,(originally intended to be delivered to California), but I am
located in Illinois. I would like to know mechanically what the difference is,as well as the performance changes, if any.

Thanks to all for posting.

My 06 Z06 has the option, and I bought the car in Des Moines Ia. There is none.

There is no physical difference. If there IS any difference, it is just some sort of paperwork certification--the underhood stickers should all say that they are 50 state legal.

S-Tee is right. The Fe-9 is a paperwork function. I bought my Z in Idaho and the dealer filled out a form to get car registered. All Vette's are 50 state legal and identical.

I live in Connecticut and when I ordered my 2000 C5 coupe, it came with the "NE1" (North East states emissions) because the dealer ordered it that way. The NE1 package is not required here in Connecticut but it is required in the bordering states. The dealers order their cars here with the NE1 package on it anyway so they have the option to sale it to someone that may live in a bordering state. I later found that one difference was the NE1 cars had Pre-cats (Small cats mounted just off the exhaust manifold) in addition to the main Cats. This was done for cold start emissions. The FE9 cars did not have them and dynoed about 22 to 27HP more. When I ordered my 2006 Z06 I made sure it was a FE9 not a NE1 car. I have been told their is no difference now. Then why even have a difference?
