You can do two thing use an insulation kit like I did or you can order a heat shield kit that gets installed beneath the car. My insulation kit fixed the problem and it stays way cool...

I just bought the insulation kit from Exoticvette. Is that the one you have?

Got it done!

Alpine KCE-400BT receiver with the extra pieces to work Bluetooth, XM, etc.(I decided to forego nav., since my mobile phone has a great sys., which is always up to date with a much sexier voice)
Focal K2 Power 165 KRX3 speaker complexes in the doors
ARC Audio KS 900.6 Amp
JL Stealthbox Sub-woofer

iPod in glovebox, utilizing steering wheel controls.

Very clean install by TuneTime in Redlands, CA. Mike Stoekman. I reccommend him to anyone in the area.

On to underhood mods. K & N breather first.

BTW, got new Bridgestone Potenza's from tire rack at quite a savings. Will be installed by Pruetts Precision Alignment in Redlands, CA in conjunction with top end alignment. Scott Vann is a perfectionist. Will set the car up for daily road use, or track. I reccommend him, as well.

Overspent my budget on the speakers, but worth it!

What kind of system down you have? I just got my 09 Z two days ago. I have a Bose system. Also, the previous owner put in a Corsa exhaust-mufflers and X pipe. It is certainly louder than stock. My foot down, I can't hear anything. I am a bass player and I LOVE bass and it's got plenty of it. It could use more treble IF anything but that's only because of 30 plus years of listening to ear splittingly loud music. I had a system installed in the coupe I traded in for this. Two amps, one for the sub and a new head unit, pioneer(don't waste your money on that brand). Overall, this sounds better-much better balanced. Also, too many weird electric type things were happening. Plus, don't screw amps in behind your seat. There is a gas tank back there!

I also have the Bose system and Navi on a 2008 Z06 and the stock sound is just OK with a CD and terrible on FM. A cheap and very nice upgrade is to replace the upper door speakers and rear speakers with some JL Audio units. Then replace the deck with a JVC or similar double DIN unit. You will find that for about $400 you will finally have a system that is worth listening too. Crisp highs and a natural voice. You won't get a really strong low end but it's not bad. The Bose amp and sub is not too bad but the stock radio is just horrible.

My 2 cents worth.

I value your opinion but I saw first hand what can and will happen. I also think that Bose knows a bit more when it comes to sound as opposed to us trying to match different components. I would love an iPhone aux plug but the risk is too high. Also, my old system was MUCH louder but it did miss some frequencies here and there. I don't maybe I am getting old. I just don't want to mess with it. I'll stick with the Bose.
