ipod connection for 2007 Z06

Does anyone know of the easiest or cheapest way to connect an ipod to the factory stereo/nav system in a 2007 Z06? It's a 2LZ with the LCD screen. I'm surprised GM didn't make the stock stereo ipod friendly!!

I've had good luck with the USA Spec PA15 vette. About $150 and 45 minutes to install.

GM does make a unit you can install. Its called PAL for personal audio link. I have one I am no longer using. Paid 140.00 for it. My car is an 08 2LZ with Nav. Personally, it was ok, and better than the after market units I had seen.

Last summer I had an ISimple FM hardwire Unit installed at Best Buy with the cord tucked in the ashtray cylinder and was disappointed with the attenuated (muted) volume and squashed dynamic range of about 60% of the CD sound.

I had the unit from Coastal Tech in Melbourne Florida installed in March, which works thru the digital interface and the factory navigation screen, which has better dynamic range and is a little easier to use to navigate thru Ipod (Playlists only), but it still only plays at about 80% of the volume of a CD. It is still a good option compared with CDs flying out of visor CD holders during hard cornering. I use my 64GB IPOD touch located in the closed center console.

Note that I had a Coastal Tech Lockpick Vette 360 installed at the same time to install an interface to use the Nav screen for a back-up camera and front grille camera. It was defective (as shipped from them) and had to be replaced with another unit, which I had to pay for up front. While the situation worked out eventually, and is still working after 2 months (knock wood), their customer service sucked. They were rude and it took them over 3 weeks to credit my charge card for the defective unit, AFTER the documented UPS signed return delivery date back to them. No apologies and no concessions were offered. I am not going out of my way to slam them (I did not post this experience, when it happened). I am just stating the facts, as an option to the units discussed here.

I dont know what my 08 2LZ Z06 has. It has a connector in the consoloe that I thought was factory, the Nav deck controls the ipod and charges it too.

I also own a 2007 z06 with nav and am looking at buying the USA spec iPod pa15 -website says it plugs into the xm harness behind the drivers seat in the rear quarter panel. Question-how easy is it to access? Is it thru the speaker grill? And do you run the cable under the carpet towards the front of the hatch? How can it be hidden in the center console? Thanks.

I did mine about 3 years ago, but as I recall you'll pull the carpet loose on the left rear wheel well. I think you'll be able to find an install if you google it. It's basically plug and play. One word of advise, do order the extension cable if you plan on running this to your console. You'll need the extra length. This applies to the coupe. Convertibles are located between the seat waterfall.

Has there been any change in the "state of the art" in the last 4 years?

Last year, I asked Coastal Tech if they updated their software to make it more user friendly, and to reduce losses a bit. I was told that they do not support the C6 nav unit interfaces anymore. Other choices are to aftermarket (had to on my 2004 Silverado SS). However, in a "drivers car" with a manual shifter and stiffer suspension, I prefer knobs for frequently used controls (volume) and not miniature buttons or touch screen points. Most aftermarket units that fit, have very small touch screen points and 5 layer menus to do anything. My trucks Pioneer does everything, but half the time when trying to make a selection (safely with no traffic or people nearby), I hit a bump right when I press and get something other than what I wanted.
