My motor pings during hard rights

Hi everybody I am new to these forums. My car is a 07 Z06 with 1500
miles. Three times I have heard what appears to be a spark knock or
ping coming from the motor only during high rpm right sweeps (4000 to 5500)
I would like some insight before I go to the dealer. Thanks.
PS I Always use Premium unleaded.

I am sure you know the difference, but I'll ask anyway......are you sure it's not the shifter rattling? I have an 07 and it does that. You can find threads on that topic here.

I'd agree with it being a rattle. There's not very much in the fuel system that'd be sensitive to lateral load. But things move around mechanically when you pull hard, the chassis flexes, the motor moves a bit on it's mount, hoses can shift. It's more likely your sound is mechanically induced, than knock.

Have the dealer run a test on the knock sensors. Don't know for sure, but I don't think they throw a code when they fail. Anyone know for sure?

I just took my Z home from the dealer. They replaced the battery and fixed
a few small problems. The computer check did not find anything wrong with
the motor. I took the master service technitian for a joy ride and I heard the
sound in most of the right hand high RPM turns but He could not hear it.(the
sound is not very loud and I first noticed it after 7 months of ownership so it stood out to me as a new sound.) There could be something wrong with The
car or maybe I am hearing normal sounds. I just don't know. Anyway My Z
continues to thrill me and my passengers but I guess that goes without saying.
PS I should take my coworker Tang for A Spin.

Yes, they will generate a code if they're INOP or malfunctioning. On the C5 it's a P0327 for the front sensor and a P0332 for the rear.

If there are no codes the knock sensors are probably working fine. If so, then what you're hearing is not likely knock as they would sense any and the PCM would retard timing, thus preventing audible ping.

As RocketSled mentioned, it sounds more mechanical in nature.

You might check the tunnel heat shield above the exhaust couplers for clearance. Have seen this issue. If they are rubbing, you should see evidence on the tunnel plate.
