Re: 2009 Winterfest..
Update: I just checked the Pro Auto Sports racing schedule for 2009 and it's either Feb 13 (Friday) or Mar 13 (Friday). Both dates are for the East Track Gate 1.
Previous Winterfest had Dyno on Thursday, Firebird track on Friday and Speedworld Drag Strip on Saturday.

Re: 2009 Winterfest..
Feb 21st is Club Day at Speedworld. Welcome To SpeedWorld Drag Strip That's the only Club Day in Feb or March. We don't have to go on a club day but I don't think they'll allow you to set up your own venue (like bracket racing) while there's another scheduled event going on. But it might be worth asking. If there is an event, track prep will probably be pretty good.
ProAutosports Welcome to ProAutosports! events only require that you register a few days in advance, but you have to have their license and I think the cost is about $140 for new members and $40 to renew. I don't think they've ever turned anyone away. We were out there a couple weeks ago for their 2008 customer appreciation day and the field was full, but they still ran everyone who wanted to go.
Ken, are you still organizing this or do you have other things pressing this year? Several of us have offered to help. Let us know wassup. I'm willing to step up and do whatever it takes. I was laid off two months ago and I have plenty of time.

Re: 2009 Winterfest..
Steve, I know that the past 2 Winterfests had drag racing w/the Scottsdale Exotic Car Club (SECC). Since there is no WART here in Arizona, Firebird Raceway was the next alternative, and that was what anchored the Fest, that and Thursday/Friday night dinner at the Rustler's Roost where we see special people.

Re: 2009 Winterfest..
Tom, all we have to do is register our group on a club day and they will host bracket racing for us... pro trees if we want. I think that would be a good idea. I just spoke with Victoria at Speedworld and explained that we may want them to host a bracket racing event sometime in Feb or March, but we don't know a date and could they accommodate us also in the event another event is already running. She said to email her when we figure out a date and she'll try and work with us.

Re: 2009 Winterfest..
Yeah, what Tom said. It would be no problem to set up a block of rooms at the Hotel. I think Ken has already lain the ground work for that. We just need to settle on some dates and get this rolling so people have time to plan.
I can put together a cruise for Thursday (maybe not as cool as the WART tour) if there is interest, and we can see some Arizona sites. There's lots to do and see... the Grand Canyon, old gold mine tours, ghost towns, jeep tours into the desert, Casinos with shows, Yarnell Hill twisties (the locals know about Yarnell Hill), river boat dinner cruises, PIR (that's Hwy 89, or Pason International Raceway as the locals call it)
For those who don't wish to drag race, the world's largest on-going car show is held in Scottsdale every Saturday. The second Saturday of the month is Corvette Saturday and there will be a hundred or so Vettes, along with just about any other kind of custom car you might want to see. You name it, we have it.
The March 13 date for Firebird looks like a good date. Let's try to get Ken stirred up and see what he says. I am sure the hotel will accomidate us and a Thursday Dyno day at ADC should be pretty easy to line up.
Let's keep this thread going and get people interested.
