Thank god this happened in Houston and not during the previous 1200 miles of nothing that I just crossed.

Just got to Crestview, FL for the night, after 36 hours from hell...
It started when something went wrong with the car. Got it to Jak's house (thank goodness this did not happen somewhere between Tucson and San Antoniio, I might never have been found). Jack called his garage and arranged to have a flatbed pick up the car and take it the shop so they could have a look. Flatbed was supposed to arrive at 8:00 am. By 9 am there was still no flatbed, so Jack called and I told Jack that if the flatbed could not be there by 9:30 then forget it, I had to go with Plan B.
Well we had to go with Plan B, so I got a Budget truck and car trailer, got it back to Jack's. Now Jack was getting an intravenus procedure done, so he could not leave the house. So just as I get back to Jack's the clouds open up and it starts pouring. I am out there trying to move this car trailer into position myself, no simple or light trick.
Get the trailer positioned, and now have to try and back the car onto the trailer. Well, last night the car would not start, so I tried to push it onto the trailer by myself with no luck. So I got in, patted the car on the dashboard and said "sweetheart if you love daddy, please start", and it did, so I backed the car onto the trailer.
Jack was able to come out following his procedure and help me finish tying her down. so I collected my stuff, thanked Jack several times for his hospitality and willingness to help and off I went, at about 1:30 pm.
Well, now I get into some heavy rain just outside of Houston and find that the van's cab leaks like a sieve from the roof, just behind the seats, so me and my stuff are getting dripped on. I slosh through torrential rain all the way through Louisiana, and then very high winds through Mississippi and Alabama, fighting this truck and trailer for 10.5 hours.
But we are here, and I will be home tomorrow afternoon, and then we will see what we will see.

Re: On the road again
Dang, Mark, what a road trip! Hope you get home safely and can put this all behind you as a distant memory, while keeping the fun and comraderie of the Fest as a fresh one. Drive safe, my Orange (and white) Brudda! (Hey, does that make ya a Creamsicle?)

Good night all,
Mark
Glad to hear you made it home safely Mark. Sorry to hear that you had so many problems. Hopefully you get the car up and running soon. I think it is probably for the best that you got it back home and to your mechanics, than having someone elses hands on it. You know how that always ends up....... The blame starts going every where. Not saying bad things about anyone, just been there done that!

Re: On the road again
Not only does the trip back home from an event suck, now you add car problems............
However, I do remember some comments about wusses that trailer their cars to events.
Did you stir up some bad mojo?????
Seriously though Mark, I hope Crush just has a flesh wound and will be back on the road soon!!
Thank You for making the trek and showing these west coast posers what a REAL Z06 Vette dot com member will go through to attend one of our events!!
Another 8 hours of torrential rain and high wind made for an exhausting and nerve racking drive home. We will get a look at Krush tomorrow and see what is up.
All safe and sound in the comfort of my home.
Quite an adventure, the trip out was great, the event was incredible, and 2/3 of the ride back was fun.
Overall I give the trip an A, and encourage everyone to get out and drive your car somewhere, and not just around the block, take a trip in your Vette, its very theraputic.
Good to hear Mark........I hope it's a simple fix, maybe like a sensor wire shorted out or really easy for you. Awesome to see you and being able to spend time with us, the Z family that is this site.
