With options 110K+.
Do not like the exposed CF roof, hood is a much easier fix.

Re: Bob Lutz on the ZR-1

Well - with all that focus on "smooth, refined, luxurious, composed" it sounded like GM really wanted to just go out and build a supercharged BMW M6...

"You could give it to your elderly mother and she could go grocery shopping in it with no problem at all."

Are you saying the typical Corvette buyer is getting 'older', Bob?

Re: Bob Lutz on the ZR-1

He said "top speed WELL IN EXCESS of 200 mph"

How fast is that?

Yikes.

Re: Bob Lutz on the ZR-1

A vehicles top speed is generally about 20 mph less than the numerical top speed on the speedometer. Since the ZR1 has a speedometer that has a top speed of 220 mph it's reasonable to assume the top speed will be at or just over 200 mph.

Therefore, even though he said "well in excess of 200 mph" you can take that with a grain of salt. It's called marketing hype and/or GM speak for 203 mph or thereabouts, as delivered.

Any bets?

Re: Bob Lutz on the ZR-1

Roof is tacky looking and the window in the hood just does not go with the rest of the car.

Re: Bob Lutz on the ZR-1

I am willing to bet it will be higher than barely over 200mph since the C6Z is close to it as is. Will it be 220? Who knows but it would be great to be able to bury the needle again like we did with the 85mph speedos.

Nice to hear it from the Lutz man. I'm thinking top speed will be about 205 mph.

Agree. I would think that needing power north of 650 would be a requirement to consistently reach the 220 neighborhood. Especially given that the aerodynamics of the car wouldn't be any better than the current Z06. The performance will be staggering no matter what the maximum velocity ends up being. If GM can wring "198" out of the current Z bone stock, in my book, that's 200 mph right there! And I won't be reaching it on any of the roads here in NJ!

Re: Bob Lutz on the ZR-1

If the current ZO6 can achieve a 198mph bone stock and have the 200mph speedo then im betting that the ZR1 can top out at 218mph with a speedo of 220mph.

In order to be the best sports car bar none, you will have to offer an auto trans just like the other big dogs which cater to that "smooth, refined luxury class" of high rollers. Only the super rich will buy this car new IMHO.

We'll see how the car's aerodynamics do together with the gearing. It's very difficult to go well past 200 mph. There are very few cars that can even go past that mark.
