I found something that says the brakes on the Enzo are $2300 fronts, $2100 rears and rotors are $7400 each.
Becasue it's a vette, I would guess brake pads might be somewhere between $1000 and $1500 for all. The rotors will probably run you about $1500 each. Just speculation, of course.
Why? They are wear parts. Some may get 100,000 miles out of them and some may get 5,000 miles depending on driving!
Didn't make my point well ... While I don't think the price of rotor/pad replacement would dissuade the prospective ZR1 buyer ... BMW must have some reasoning behind wear parts warranty ... I would think it is in part to keep an eye on the cars and how they are used ... and building a service relationship with the customer. GM may benefit from a similar approach on the ZR1 as "first use" CF brakes on a "consumer car".

Hey, that is a damn good idea! GM are you listening?
GM has way too much to learn about customer service and backing your product!!! It'll never happen. How does a company have so many admitted problems from rocker arm bearing failures, clutch problems, and rear differential problems and not address them until you complain. These are quality control problems/weak links. You would think once these problems are identified better parts would follow. But no same problems for years and same parts. It is so apparent that they just try to get you thru the warranty period. How do justify rocker roller bearings in the oil pan and the fix is to ID the one rocker that failed and replace it?!! So one by one you have to come back!!! What a company!!! That's why my line in the sand w/ GM is way before 100,000 dollars! Service and expertise is terrible w/ this company. I cringe everytime I have to go to the dealer.
I took my wifes Lexus to the dealer on Saturday - without an appointment - and had them perform a routine service, including oil and filter change due to mileage. I usually service my own cars, including the Z, but not in this case.
Here's why...
Oil and oil filter change - no charge
Front brake pads produced excessive dust (sound familiar?) - changed to low dust pads - no charge
Rotated the tires - no charge
I wanted a set of rubber winter floor mats. They cost $149.00 - no charge
It was raining and close to snowing that day. However, they didn't only wash the car, they had it detailed inside and out - no charge.
Contrast that with calling one of the best GM dealers around here who sells a lot of corvettes in order to install a new shifter per the TSB: "We'll have to order it. We'll order a few." That took a week. Then they call (I was actually surprised) and told me it was in and asked when I'd like to make an appointment. The earliest appointment was another week. It only took them an hour to install it (I can swap one in 30 minutes) and again I was surprised when they didn't scratch the car or in some other way damage anything. I'll take it back there to have them fix the rocker arm/s. Pray for my Z.
WOW! You guys sure have one hell of a lot of problems. I suggest you sell your Corvettes and drive your Lexus'. I will wave when I pass you!
In 13,000 miles I have had no issues. I think I am in the majority. Remember where you purchased your cars from when you don't have a job!
On the no issues part didn't you have your Z warmed over by the Katech guys? Could it be that they used better parts in your engine? Not sure on this. I thought I read you got a cam and some other goodies over on CF. Katech Torquer Cam - Corvette Forum Looks like some other items were replaced as well.
Good to hear there are some without issues. It keeps my hopes alive for an 07. I like Lemans Blue, and the 100K warranty so I will be limited to that model year. Don

Katech upgraded a lot of things, radiator, engine, brakes, exhaust, transmission, rearend, top of engine, etc. I have a lot more HP! Still, no top flying off, no radio or electrical problems, no paint issues, etc. My car had been at 200MPH! With the Katech performance upgrades I chose to have the drive train, cooling, brakes, etc. upgraded because of the extra power. Will I expect GM to warrent these changes? NOPE! I think GM has built one hell of a Z06 for us and I think the ZR1 will be one hell of a car. It is just not what I want now!

Jim,
While a bit off topic here I have followed your posts for a while. I got your point, and I think the new Z is a great car. Wish I could swing one. I was just thinking the Katech parts are probably a bit better built. I agree with your choices, and tuner. I will have to stick with my C5Z. Take care, Don
