C6 Z06 Over?

From what I have heard the new Z engine is pretty much designed to its threshold.
It's brakes aren't really loved because they are said to wear uneven.

Re: C6 Z06 Over?

Hey maybe! At least if it was a steel block the center of gravity would be lower then a supercharger. With MR shocks, and some of the other new heavier ALREADY eng'd stuff for the new ZR1, who knows, the 454 Z06 could be set directly at the Viper$, easy for 2010?
If the ZR1 proves to get around the track better then the current Z06, this is a no brainer to keep the Z06 going!
The tuners could then concentrate on doing used cars!
Also, I don't see GM using those big movable sleeves espiecially since they already have a basic steel block.
Norman your profound after all!!!!!!

Slap on some big ass brembos and have the boys at MTI in GA punch your current Z out to 454 ci. Then you will have a better weight to hp ratio than the ZR1 and no braking issues.

Or - better yet, some big AP Racing brakes

Re: C6 Z06 Over?

I have the MTI part done. The Brembo Gran Turismos are waiting for me to put them on - 6 pot 14" front and 4 pot 13.6" rears. I stayed away from the 15" front rotors so that I could keep the factory rims for daily use and 18" rims for track duty.

The lope of the cam and the grunt of the engine is incredible. I was able to put about 500 miles on it going from Atlanta up to the Tail of the Dragon and back. Then the car went into storage due to living in Minnesota. I can't wait for some good weather to get back out. Hopefully will have some good weather to test brakes before I head off to TWS in March for an HPDE.

Re: C6 Z06 Over?

Yeah, but is it a 454? And if it is I've seen and heard of those big sleeves shifting!

This could be an expandable platform! 1000 HP Vettes all over the place.
