Canadian Price for ZR1

Call from my dealer today. I am first in line for their only allotment of one ZR1. My choice is fully optioned, cyber gray metallic, black interior with sienna seat inserts, beeeutiful colors for that absolutley gorgeous car. GM Canada MSRP is...are you ready for this.....$CAD 163,000 !!!

I decided to let someone else have my car and will instead look for an '07 GT3 or wait for an '09 GT-R or '10 GT-R V-Spec. Might even consider an '09 M3.

Too bad but IMHO that is a ridiculous price.

I agree. For that price, the field opens up considerably. The GT3 sounds interesting.

Again GM Canada has elected to gouge the market. However, if you could find a US spec car at MSRP, it would be worth the effort to import it.

In my post on another site, a member responded with a complete list of Canadian prices. My dealer rep might have been given incorrect information and is checking.

BASE MSRP - 125,195
Freight - 1,420
Premium Package - $15,010 (not sure I want this)
Chrome Wheels - 2,500 (definitely do not want)
DVD/NAV etc - 2,040 (definitely do not want)

If accurate, we're into reasonable territory.

I believe US MSRP is approximately $103K.

U.S.-spec ZR1's are NOT importable to Canada. Bumper differences that can NOT be "suitably rectified", according to Transport Canada. In fact, NO '08 or newer Vettes are importable to Canada...

GM Canada's pricing, this time, is MUCH closer than when the C6 Z06 was released. Then, the difference was close to 50%... Gee, now it's ONLY 20%...on a 2-5% $ differential...

Check the Transport Canada website. They recently harmonized the bumper regs. All 2008 & 2009 GM models from the US can be imported as is. Problem is, you'll be very lucky to find a ZR-1 from a US dealer at MSRP and I'm sure the dealers would rather sell it to a local enthusiast instead of someone from out of town let alone out of country. I could be wrong.
