No worries about that PB. I hadn't seen those results and don't read Motor Trend anyway. Too bad it still looks like a "Clown Shoe".
Actually, I really like the Vipers and have quite a bit of seat time in an '01 GTS that a member here owns. Fun car for sure but not even close to having the power of the ACR.

OK, now try putting the same tires on the ZR1 that are on the ACR that set those records. I'll bet the ZR1 would make up those 4 seconds at the 'ring.

They're both great cars. I think the ZR1 would be easier to drive hard than the ACR is. The ACR really requires more of your concentration since you would end up against the wall if you weren't careful.
As far as 'Ring times, the ZR1 was driven by a professional driver to get that time (can you say Jan?), the ACR was not. Put a professional driver behind the wheel of the ACR and you'll get about 7:20.X in that thing.
Don't want to nit-pick, but the 2010 GT-R (stock) is now at 7:26.X on that list.

I think it was a GM Engineer driving the ZR1 for that time, but, I would love to see Jan Mag's time though!
Anyway, the ZR1 wasn't a prepared track car. Set it up with:
3.70 gears
C6r wing
Sincere front splitter
Pilot sport cups
Maybe a touch more -camber and lowering
And a ricer paint job for you!
Then we are talking apples and apples!
I'm thinking the new Ferrari 458 is going to be the 'one' as they coined in the Matrix! Street to track!
Well yeah, it definitely isn't an apples to apples comparison... The tires on the ACR are so soft I've heard most owners only getting a few thousand miles out of them, if that.
But it does have the cool factor over the ZR1 imo.
The test numbers first, looks second! Wins Both! And they never tested the ZR1 with either the track ACR Viper or 430 Scuderia because it wouldn't have been fair! But, like I have been saying the street Ferrari 458 is going to make the Scuderia numbers, plus!
Times are changing and the ZR1 lead the way!

Plus it costs 30k + less than both the ZR1 & the ACR.
If I had to choose I would go with the ZR1 only because it comes equipped with parts that are more useful for both street/track use. The ACR is strictly for the track and that will get old very quickly. If I wanted to buy a track only car I would buy an Ultima GTR and lap the ring in 6:55 .

They're all great cars, though. Any way you slice it, you'd have one hell of a car no matter which of these three you picked. The ZR1 would be great to own and torture, but I'm also tempted to get a GT-R and put on an 850 hp package to make it a daily driver that can run low 10 seconds.
I have to agree with you on the Ultima GT-R...you can just get that and call it a day as far as track use is concerned.
Really? Are you sure about that? Given equal drivers/tires etc. I seriously doubt that! I do agree that the ACR has more going for it as far as the WOW factor goes.
We should probably ask Johnie W from Arkansas which one he thinks is faster since he owns both cars.
Hey John,,,,you out there?????

Depends on the driver probably. I can get my ZR1 to hook up faster thanks to traction control. Anything above 60 and it would be a pretty close race.
I can control the ZR1 easier even on curves. Takes a lot of experience to keep the ACR from getting you in trouble.
