I'm going to laugh when I see the markups they'll put on the ZR1. Dealers are ridiculous, but the people who pay insane prices are more to laugh at.
The same thing could be said for California home buyers over the last several years. I guess it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

A little birdie told me msrp will be 120K with a 50K mark up we are in euro land.
Would not suprise me. If nothing else, GM has to be aware of the craziness that went on with the Z06 and markups on it, and would be nuts not to consider taking a slice of that pie for themselves.
I'm not sure what my go/no-go point is for what I'll pay (MSRP that is) for the car, but at $120 large and HP and weight coming in at less than what was hoped for, I'll keep my Z06 and think about a Viper to keep it company.

Well, home prices are a completely different thing, but I know what you're trying to say. Don't get me wrong; if I had the money to burn, I would pay whatever it takes to get the car first. But when it comes to markups, and them being temporary and all, I would wait it out a little to save some money. Example: If we're talking about a $50k markup - I would rather wait a while and just pay a $10k markup, or better yet, no markup at all to get this, or any other car.
Since I don't have as much money as the Sheik of Dubai, what's wrong with keeping some change in my pocket?

I can't think of anything wrong with that at all. I'm just saying, the ZR1 is a product. Nothing more.
A home is also a product. And like all products, supply and demand determine value. If a buyer doesn't like the prices of homes in California, for example, then they should probably buy in another state. After all, you won't get much sympathy telling a seller that they're just being greedy. Likewise, if you don't like a dealer's markup of a ZR1, buy from someone else, wait for values to decline, or buy a car that's not in high demand.
People always seem to gripe about dealer markups. Funny how those same people would never turn down discounts and incentives. Just a thought.

I'm sure many would have considered it if the MSRP was around $100K (give or take), but pricing it at $120 means that it will be placed in direct competition with the 911 Turbo and a miriad of other used cars such as Gallardos, 360s, Ford GTs and with potential (inevitable) dealer markup, maybe even Murcielagos.
At $120K, I'm out. I'll just buy an 07 Z for a fraction of the cost to keep my 02 company, as well as a Viper and maybe even a Saleen for good measure.

My exact feelings.
Not sure what mine is either but I can tell you it is NOT 120 + anything. I'm not in love with the car, it is too ricey with all the unpainted carbon fiber.
GM Couldn't build the C6Z fast enough until the price got into the high 70's - 80+ out the door with tax. Now they are sitting on dealer lots all over the country.
Dodge didn't even build any 2007 Vipers because they had so many 2006 unsold on dealer lots and Vipers regularly sell for 10 UNDER sticker.
Like you said, I'll keep my C6Z, maybe drop it off at Katech. I can already get a 2008 viper for $3000 UNDER MSRP and that will quickly become $10,000.
I got on the list last week but really don't want to buy a ZR1 for at least a couple of years from now. I will pass on any opportunity that comes my way that exceeds MSRP. I too hope that GM drops that see-thru hood in a year or two. More the reason to wait.

I doubt that the MSRP will hit 120k. It seems that GM is pretty committed to keeping the ZR1 good value (relative term). I suspect that the dealers will make it very difficult to buy one anywhere close to MSRP for the first few months. I wonder what the ZR1 at Barrett-Jackson will sell for. I will be there but won't be bidding on that one. A couple of years ago an 07 Shelby GT500 sold for about 10X MSRP. I am guessing the first ZR1 will pull at least 2.5 times MSRP.
The funny thing is, about 90% of the comments I've read or heard about the car say, in effect, "Cool car, but can we pleeeease lose the hood window (*cough*rice*cough*)?"
I always wondered how things like this hood window, or, say, the entire physical appearance of the Pontiac Aztek, do not make themselves apparent before production as a Bad Idea (tm).
Five bucks says the hood window is gone within 2 model years.
Reckon it will be a "The King" cost option with flashing blue LEDS!!
I wonder if they will be one at the Geneva Show in March?

To ensure I will be able to buy one from one of the well known and reputable forum dealers whom will sell at MSRP as soon as market conditions allow. I suspect the lists will get longer as the general public gets more info on the car. Of course at this price point, the potential market is much smaller than for Z06s, coupes and verts but the production number of ZR1s will also be correspondingly less. I can always choose to fall backward on the list if I am not ready to do the deal yet for the ZR1. I refuse to deal with the morons that pass for local dealers here in the Houston area. There are still such dealers here that have $10k to $20k market adjustments on the windshields of new Z06s when market reality is that Zs sell for thousands below MSRP.
