I have a lot of things to say about it but I want to hear what others think before I go spouting off at the mouth. I have had an agreement with my stealership since I picked up my 06 back in late 05.
Please give your input on how you feel about the car. I know things may change but we have to just go by what we are being told will be the final numbers.

LS15 Power! Another LS engine comin' up.
Ignoring the price, I think it's real nice. I don't care for the hood window, but all the other exterior bits I'm okay with. My 22 year old son thinks the ZR1 is what a Corvette should look like. The press and the public are going nuts over it. People that know I have a Corvette have called me to talk about it. My 81 year old mother asked me about it because she read about it in the newspaper. Many of my car buddies have mentioned it to me.
The LS9 is to drool for. I like the top mount blower and the intercooler on top. A 620 HP Corvette is what many of us dream of. And with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, holy heck Batman. And the brakes are real nice too.
I agree, the dealers are going to adjust the price on most of them. Only a few, like Zippy and Norm, may get the ZR1 at MSRP. I'll have to play and win the lottery, or go Siska style to get one.
Yes, it's over priced, so was the C4 ZR-1, and so is the C6 Z06, but they will sell all they can build of both. It's a great time to be a driver, just wish I was wealthy.
I like the ZR1 overall but the hood is a joke. A few years ago Lutz came back from a european auto show and wanted portholes in the fenders of Buicks because that is what Masarati was doing. My guess is there is a similar story behind the ZR1 hood. The fact that Ferrari has clear engine cover obviously is a driving force. The problem is that Ferrari engines are beutiful and that is one of their trademarks. If they dumped the hood I would be far more excited.
My dealer in Canada that I have a deposit with will not exceed the MSRP and I have this in writing. In fact I may get a break but won't know this until later. It seems to me by reading other threads that dealers in the USA vary from being decent to outrageous in terms of price setting for vettes.
I have lots of questions for GM staff when we meet with them during our NCM pre auto show meeting in Detroit January 18th. I’ll make my final decision at the show. I Personally I like the hood and everything else about this car. Yes it's GM’s highest priced vette yet but in comparison to its competition in terms of performance it's the greatest value sports car (maybe supercar) on the market today.
Most likely I’ll replace and/or modify the interior and change the exhaust for a more aggressive sound. From the sound clips I’ve heard it’s a muffled monster waiting to be unleashed.
If you want a special Corvette, then the new ZR1 is that car. It is still the biggest bang for the buck. However, I can't say that I'm excited about it. But I think that has more to do with the fact that it is out of my $ range.

Lose window in the hood, it reminds me of something from the old Knight Rider TV series. Also lose the side ground affects and change the ZR1 logo or decal? Looks tacky.
Since I can't justify spending $100k+ on a car, I guess I'm neutral.
I don't much care for the name or some of the ricey stuff, but the performance is something no one can argue with.

Agree with most here. Great Car! Do not like the window in the hood. Think it should have been called Stingray again as Ed said. And like Pro and Cave Man no $$$$ here either. But hey if we can win one like Siska then hell yeah!!!!:pp:

I like the car but don't feel it is worth the price bump from the Zo6. Since those that must have the latest thing will be hot after it, it may make the Zo6 prices a little lower.
Like many here, I cannot afford the new ZR1. But that won't stop me from having an opinion!!
It looks like it was designed by a 22 year old (I know, it was). The clear window in the hood is a joke. The carbon fiber roof needs to be painted. The ground effects look tacked-on. For the most part, I'm not impressed with the design fluidity, or lack there of. However, I love the grey paint. I've always wanted that color on the C5 Z06. Also, the rims look good as well.
The alleged curb weight is a bit of a disappointment. If I was given the choice between more horsepower or lighter weight, I'd choose weight reduction. Unfortunately, it's horsepower that generates publicity and ultimately sells cars. Gotta feed the ego I guess. For $100k+, I still think they could have done amazing things to lighten the ZR1. I would prefer that my next car, whatever that might be, weigh less than my current Z06. Regardless, this car will still deliver amazing performance. I just wish it was lighter.
The carbon ceramic brakes are actually one of the few changes that I can get excited about, even though I HATE the blue painted calipers. I really don't care that it can do 200+ mph. I'd rather NOT have a supercharger; somehow it seems like cheating. The rest of the car doesn't impress me that much either. It lacks that "gotta have it" factor that the Viper ACR or Porsche 911 GT3 RS have. I think other cars will be more satisfying at that price point.
The reality is that performance stats alone don't make me WANT a sports car. The shear appearance is supposed to awaken the soul...inspire. This car doesn't. That being said, however, I'm sure whomever buys it will enjoy it immensely. It really is an incredible car.

Yeah. What he said.
If they'd spent the extra budget on weight reduction (and fixing our numb steering) instead of a brand new FI engine, I think it would have been a better car.
