I am somewhat disappointed as I was hoping for some serious weight reduction and more horsepower. The window in the hood is not my favorite thing either. All of this is a moot point however, as I could never afford one anyway. I'm sure GM will sell all that they build, and I know many of them will go for MUCH more than msrp. That said, if I won one, (ala Mike Siska), believe me, I wouldn't turn it down!

Keeping the project name Blue Devil appeals to me more than the ZR1 name and the badge that goes along with it. I’m a big fan of the C5 FRC vs the C6 fastback window design. I know the C6 is more aerodynamic vs the FRC but after all the hype about this very special car I was disappointed to see its initial unveiling. I have to question if consumer response is high will GM keep production limited or build more? Will GM offer a 2010 model with even more refinements like they did with Z06?
The weight gain along with a 52/48 weight balance is disappointing. I’m anxious to see more stats on handling, track times from the Ring after engine modification are finalized in the next month or so along with 0-60 mph and ¼ mile times. I love the blue but the two tome CF roof doesn’t do it for me vs the new Grey color available.
I think most of us agree in loosing the hood. I agree w/FRC Tom on the name..and as Jim stated too...
They should have up'd the HP/TQ and reduced the weight..(Don't see how a S/C and intercooler/brake upgrade can be that much)?...Def possible.
Est. more of a Retro "STINGRAY" look and uh called it the "STINGRAY"...
I'm sure w/that coupled w/the performance expectations guys would have put morgag'es on their house's to get one...given the "StealerShips" don't kill us...
Andy
PS. "I NOW HAVE ALL SORTS OF C4 GUYS COMING UP TO ME AND SAYING (OH, THAT'S THE NEW ZO6....COOL BUT I HAVE A ZR1!!!)..I'M GOIN BUT THERE NOT OUT YET..OH WAIT-A-MIN..."

I like everything about it except for the hood and non-painted roof. Is it overpriced? Maybe. Do I want one? Yes.
I guess it's all about what YOU want and if you're willing to pay the price to impress your friends because after all, for that kind of coin you could build a car that would perform better then the ZR1.

I'm buying two tickets for the first NCM "Build Your Own" ZR1 raffle! I like it a lot. It's an Awesome Sports/GT car that is a direct competitor to the Eye-talians and Hessians.
I will take mine in Cyber Grey with chrome wheels please.
Norm, I know you want it for the show and not go. So get it!
I'm pretty much in line with Vant's comments. It just isn't speaking to me. It doesn't give me that same itch the C6Z gave me. I think it's great that GM built it. I'm happy for anyone that gets one. I'm sure it will be a fun ride. I'm looking forward to the magazine articles and comments from new owners on this Forum. I'd sure take it if you gave it to me, however, I'm just not compelled to own one. A little too much rice for my tastes, but I do love the grey. I just got back from a run with my Z. It's got all I need or can use under 160 mph and I don't use the above 160 much. I guess I'm just in love with what I've got and it's got enough for me. I don't need the biggest and baddest. I bought mine only to entertain me. No one else really cares.
I'm of the same opinion as the majority seems to be concerning the hood, specifically the clear section. Thus, one need ask why they did it. The only answer I can come up with is simply that they wanted to make it unique.
However, as with almost everything GM (or many other companies do) there is more to it than simply appearance. There is a certain amount of marketing there of course, as in "Look at me, I'm supercharged!", but there may also be something else going on.
When I said they probably wanted it to be unique, that is exactly what I meant. In fact, so unique no one would likely buy the hood and put in on their C6. In that way it helps keeps the ZR1 unique. Had it been all painted carbon fiber, some people would probably be scooping them up like mad, although I'm sure someone will do it anyway.
I know after all these years not to say too much in the public forums.
All i can say is if you don't want it don't buy it.
F'''me gm steped up again............................................. ...
If you can buy more for less, go for it...........................

thank you ND.
Does not take much to make it the way you and anyone thinks it should have been or we think it should be. If we were all alike it would be a very boring world............................................. ........
Overall, I think the ZR1 is a pretty awesome package. It has the power and the brakes to help you control it. The carbon fiber pieces are a nice touch also. Some of us are used to having a lower curb weight, but the car comes with a blower/intercooler as well as heavy-duty pieces so you can enjoy the new power with no problems.
With time, I think everyone will get used to its exterior. I also echo the comments made on the hood; too ricey. But the rest of it looks pretty much Corvette. I think that if GM would have done less to it's exterior, then people would complain that they didn't do enough to differentiate it. I don't really have a problem with the carbon fiber roof. I think it's a nice touch. Different. But not hideous.
All i can say is if you don't want it don't buy it.
The title of the thread is, "How do YOU FEEL about the new ZR1?". I haven't seen anyone unfairly bashing the car. Norman wanted our opinions, both positive and negative. Some of us don't belong to the GM Cheerleading Squad.

Sure, you could easily modify the ZR1 to suit your individual tastes. But I didn't think that was the point of this discussion.
