Re: How do you feel about the new ZR1?

After reading all the tech info on the car it is impresive to say the least. I do not care for the window in the hood and hope that GM is listening to all the negitive feed back on the hood and decides to omit the window. I have not had one person tell me that they liked the window yet. I find it remarkable that GM is going to mass produce a world class super car. I look forward to the HP numbers and the track times from "The Ring" for this car. I guess I am saying that I like it Norm.

Lightbulb Re: How do you feel about the new ZR1?

GM now needs to focus on interior quality and handling.

In fact, many of the parts on the Corvette (and all other GM vehicles as well) are produced overseas. less jobs at home.

I DON'T think It's a "Wake Up" call to Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche..etc. etc..
I do not care for the window in the hood .

Keeping the project name Blue Devil appeals to me more than the ZR1 name
It's really overpriced if you think about what you're getting iT'S A overpriced c6 Z06.

GM IS MAKING A LOT OF MONEY OFF OF US just think about it.

It let me down, as I wanted more then a c6 zo6

Re: How do you feel about the new ZR1?

That is the object of the game for any company ... making money ... profit is not a dirty word ... profit makes the world go around ... I am sure that you do not work for free .. GM is a global company and it is mass producing a car that can compete performance wise with 99.999% of the cars on the road at a obtainable price for many customers world wide. If you do not think it is a reasonable price this is a free country...do not purchase one .. but if you really think it is overpriced sit down and figure out how much it will cost to build a car in your garage that will duplicate the performance numbers that the ZR1 is going to produce. I am talking about the total package ... the handling and braking not just horse power .. This is a super halo vehicle for GM. I do not think that they are going to steal much business from the exotic car builders..a lot of the people that buy exotics cars are looking for the exclusivity that those cars give them..but GM is offering a world class super car to thousands of people who would never be able to purchase one of the exotics ... there is a big difference in the price of a ZR1 and the upper end exotic cars.

No kidding Sherlock!..and it is a free country and I don't intend on purchasing one, however, who are you to tell me what to buy and not to buy. You're entitled to your opinion, as I'm entitled to mine. I'll keep the C6 Z06 that I have now, and be satisfied rather than just trying to build my ego that I'm getting a better car.

As far as building a car like that, you can buy your basic Corvette for $41,000 and mod it to be faster for a lot less money.

I did not try and tell you what to purchase sir ... ... you are obviously not a morning person...you made a comment and I responded ... the big difference is that I responded without the "attitude" ... I have one word for you sir ... DECAF.. have a nice day.

PS Adding horse power is very easy .. my DD spanks stock C6 Z06s regularly in the quarter mile .. that does not mean that my DD is superior to the C6 Z06 ... there is much more to the complete package that the C6 Z06 has just as there is for the ZR1 ... The horse power realy is the easy part I doubt that you can build a ZR1 beater in your garage for less than the price of the ZR1... if you do build one please take it to "The Ring" and share your lap time with us. "The Ring" always tells the true story.

Re: How do you feel about the new ZR1?

the reason i love the new zr1 so much is that the prices of the used c6 zo6 will finally start to drop.i should be able to pick up one of these monsters within the next few years now instead of waiting 7 or so.

those wheels and tires are going to make that thing handle like crap on public streets. ill bet they are at least 5lb per wheel in the back heavier than the c6 zo6. the profile is so low now that even pebbles will make that thing want to jar your teeth out, even with the electronic dampning. the brake are nice of course, hate the blue though. too bad they are too big to swap to a standard z06.

the motor is what you would expect from a supercharged ls3 that has a 100k warranty. not too impressed over the 7.0 zo6 engine which i think is much better overall with its 7k redline. the zo6 engine just seems like more of a road racers choice, the zr1 is a drag racers dream.

the hood is trash and so are the ricer fenders and other tiny bits they threw on there. the car is heavier overall and its front biased now where the zo6 was more to 50/50. my choice is the z06 all the way. way cheaper, cleaner looking and 7.0 at 7k rpm is just too damn sexy to pass up. you can keep the extra 120 hp, thats what mods are for, even though pulleys and a exhaust will no doubt get almost 700 hp out of a stock zr1.

buyers are lucky this thing has stability control, otherwise this thing will get thrown around trees even faster than the new vipers. even with traction aids you wil still see these things totaled within the first few weeks of them on the market. 620 horse is alot for the average driver to handle, unless your one of the posers that will buy this thing only to drive 35 in a 40 on your way to 1k miles a year.

You are obviously not aware of your own attitude. You made some comments and I just responded accordingly, and what I thought was the same tone you used. Try to analyze your own post. People don't need a lesson on the economics of business. I think we are all pretty saavy when it comes to that and are aware of GM's marketing strategies. Have a nice day.

Steve's comment....

seems a little generic to be construed as telling you specifically what to buy or not buy, don't you think?

I'm getting so tired of this worn out lame reasoning behind liking/not liking, buying/not buying a car that it makes me want to puke.

Is it true... of course it is! But where does that vein of thinking stop?
Since you can mod a 10 year old Honda Civic or a 30 year old Pinto to be much faster than a Vette, a Z06 or a ZRI for much less than the dealership cost, then why the hell aren't we all driving souped up Civics and counting our savings?

If one buys into that philosophy, then every one of us are just elitest pigs who just throw our money at cars to be cool.

There is no doubt that the zr1 has the potential to put down some very impressive numbers. I also can't wait to see 'Ring numbers for it - that's where the "whole package" will really be put to the test.

If the price is too much for you, then look elsewhere. This is a Serious Buyers Only kind of car.

I'm sure it will be a fun ride. I'm looking forward to the magazine articles and comments from new owners on this Forum. I'd sure take it if you gave it to me, however, I'm just not compelled to own one. A little too much rice for my tastes, but I do love the grey. I just got back from a run with my Z. It's got all I need or can use under 160 mph and I don't use the above 160 much. I guess I'm just in love with what I've got and it's got enough for me. I don't need the biggest and baddest. I bought mine only to entertain me. No one else really cares.
I agree we said.

I think to that it may make the C6 Zo6 prices a little lower. That will be good for some that want to get out of there C5z.

Re: How do you feel about the new ZR1?

My Vote: Neutral
My Reason: I expected less weight and maybe less power.

My take on all this, after reading everyone has posted is. The hood I like. In the showroom it will show. Outside it will show also. If Ferrari does it and gets away with it.. Why can't GM? I know why... because its GM... No one forgives GM for ANYTHING, yet you all forgive Ferrari, BMW and who else for overpricing their vehicles.

My expectations in raw performance where exceeded, it was just not done the way I thought it would have been done.

The Ceramic Breaks where certainly something I didn't expect when I heard about them, yet they put it in there. For the price difference of a fully loaded z06 vs a zr1 you see there is not much of a difference in pricing when you account that maybe $15k are on the brakes alone... That gives you how much for the rest? We still have a carbon fiber hood, Awesome wheels, an engine to die for (although i wanted a 454 in there).

The reason they went with the supercharger is to be able to have an engine that meets DRIVEABILITY concerns and emission standards. Putting a bigger cam on an ls7 will probably gain a lot of enemies from the green people. They chose the smart route. They finally did it. They Supercharged the Small block Chevy.

You fail to realize that because of this vette, we get our brand new CTS-V with 550HP and a few other cars.

In the end... Doesn't matter what is posted on the forums... It matters that I have gotten many calls to separate such a vehicle if we get an allocation. GM WILL SELL THEM ALL! and probably more next year.

No, I can't afford it, specially with taxes here. I can dream about it and I can feel happy that GM undertook such a project and made it a reality. My favorite car which is the vette will be a tough nut to crack.

And to the guy who said it doesn't speak to you? If the C6Z does speak to you... I don't see why this one doesn't.
