Just curious on member's thoughts on how the new zr-1 will effect z values. Do you feel the price of the new zr-1 will be enough out of reach that the z won't be effected? or the price of a z is high enough that the extra dough to have the best will kill the z's values?? good luck! I myself can't afford a zr-1.... that wouldn't be an auto loan.. that's a mortgage!
Z06 values will drop faster than a prom dress at 11 pm. The gasoline in the tank will be worth more than the car itself. People will be scrambling to sell their car for whatever they can get. It'll pretty much be the worst parts of the Bible. Dogs and cats, living together...mass hysteria!
On second thought...the values probably won't be affected by much.

I don't believe the ZR1 will affect the Z06 much and certainly won't depreciate the Z06 being that the Z06 maintains its superior road racing capabilities against it's drag racing oriented brother.

i think that the z06's price will drop like mad. and if you have a c5z you better get out now while you can, i would guess that the average price will hit as low as 10k. so i'm offering you a deal here. get rid of your car now for 18k while you're ahead. i'll buy as many as people want to sell me. pm me if you're ready to sell while the selling is good.

FEAR THE MIATA
I think they will go down, but not as much as people may think. The first year the ZR1 is out there will be very few built. Who knows, maybe it will entice people to buy a vette and when they find out they cannot get a ZR1, they buy a Z06 instead.
I never really understand these kinds of questions... I didn't buy my car as an investment, I bought it so I could have something that was worth driving, and that could be driven.
I drive it.
My expectation is that I'm eventually going to use it up anyway, so the resale isn't a major consideration. I'll be happy with whatever I get since I know that car will have paid me in full, long since, when it comes time to replace it.

I think that questions like these are very important. Many of us owners or soon to be owners don't throw around 50K like Pac Man Jones at a strip club. When I go to buy or sell an item it's value and, even more, it's future value is very important to me. Over the last year these cars have depreciated like stones and having a newer and possibly "sexier" model land could be detrimental to the Z's values and survival. I guess the relationship im using here is that the Z will soon be the "middle class" of corvettes. Have any of you been the 2nd child of 3??? lol... just a corny analogy.
ZR1's impact on Z values will be almost non-existent. They are two different cars - albeit in the same line. `Vert and Coupe values didn't nosedive just because the Z came out! They would have depreciated at the same rate no matter what! Also a function of production numbers. ZR1 will never be produced in Z06 quantities. So, while this might keep ZR1 used values strong, they too will spiral down eventually. A GT2 doesn't make a 911 nosedive just because it is a higher-performing model! It's just a different, and more expensive model. I believe that GM if anything made an effort (intentional or not) to "protect" the identity of the Z06 by distinguishing it with certain features and a totally different price point. If the ZR1 had been priced at $85,000, THEN you would see total chaos in the Z06 market. JMHO!
