Financially, what would push you over the edge to buy a 2010 ZR-1?
I am sure some of you can easily afford it. Or do it just out of habit every year to have the latest and greatest. But what factors (financially) push you into it?
Speaking for myself, I don't like the idea to have 3 vehicles, so if I got a new ZR-1, one of them would have to go. The sale of the one I sell would of course, offset the expense of a new ZR-1. The highest payout, would be to sell my C5 and keep the Yukon as my "Work Horse/Daily Driver".
But at what point do you cut yourself off as far as "payments" are concerned?
And, what is considered a healthy down payment? $25,000? If so, what would the monthly payments look like financing $50,000-$60,000?
Can anyone add in some advice, suggestions, looking back any regrets etc.
I really wish they did NOT offer the new ZR-1 in Arctic White, because now that I know it is available, I can't sleep!
Ooops, I was thinking of a new Z06 pricetag, not the ZR-1...Sorry.....

Re: New 2010 ZR-1 Purchase
Not a matter of pushing myself. Like having the latest and greatest, and that's the 010 ZR1.
Granted it's a large amount of dead presidents. What do you live for? What do you work for? How many haircuts do I have left? Life is short, go for all the gusto you can get. Don't spend money on golf, tennis, fishing, hunting, skiing, bars, gambling, needless gizmos like blueberrys, ipods, etc so I spend it on my passion...Corvette.
Downpayment? nope.... one payment, done deal.

Tony, my friend, I love your attitude! I can't wait to see your ZR1 at the Fest. I NEED a ride!

The lottery win would do it for me.
It is just too hard to justify (to myself) spending $100+ k on a car - no matter how awesome it is. Maybe if I owned a racetrack, it would be easier to justify 'cause then at least I feel I could get my money's worth.

I think that would sum it up.
A white ZR-1 does sound pretty bad though I will have to look u some pictures. I didn't know they were making it in white. I guess I should get online more often.
As you know, I had a deposit down on a ZR1/Blue Devil/Stingray thingymajig since 10/24/05. Yes, I put money down on it when it was just a rumor. Well, thru the years, my stealership always said he'd take care of me when the car came in and never set a firm price. Well, when all was said and done, what he thought was fair and what I though was fair, didn't mesh. So, I passed on the deal. Now that the "newness" has gone away, I have lost interest in the car. Not completely, but mostly. I don't think their is enough of a performance gap to warrany spending that much more for the car. I guess you could say, I don't have enough expendable cash to throw away like some "well to do" folks have. I'm still cautious of what I spend my money on. Especially in this ecomomic environment.
I guess since the "new toy on the block" feeling has gone away, I lost most of my interest.
Still like the car though. Just not enough to spring the cash.
I'm more excited to see what the new C7 Corvette styling changes brings. That can't be too far away.

What would financially push me ver the edge to buy a new ZR-1, winning Powerball, and thats about it. Just not in the cards, too much money...
I'm like the others that the only way for me would be to hit one of the lotteries. And then it would have to be after paying off such other things as the house note, so it would have to be a rather large hit.
The cards are just not lined out that way for some of us.........glad to know that things work differently for others though. Maybe I will be lucky enough to find a used ZR1 several years down the road.
Zippy, I'll be drooling at the Fest. Good for you buddy!!
There are some very good points brought up. Most of which are common due to the economy. Although it is a big dream, it is still nice to wish.
Thanks for the responses and snap back to reality.
Whos playing the lottery?
I play about once a week. The bad part about buying to have the newest and best toy on the block is, it never lasts long. Then you feel like you've wasted money. So, you have to buy because you really enjoy the ride. That is what is most important.

I am too, but I have a feeling that the C7 won't arrive until 2014 at the earliest. And that is probably very optimistic from what I've been reading. I hope the C7 knocks my socks off with fresh styling. GM needs to clone Larry Shinoda.
