This is a GREAT time to buy a few extra homes and rent them out. Low prices and low interest rates = GREAT return on investment. The ZR1 may be fast, but the RE will beat it in the long run.
Still can't take "homes" to your grave last time I checked, you can't take your cars with you either but I sure do have fun with them.. Sure there are far more charitable ways of burning 120K, heck you could probably feed a whole tribe in ethiopia for that kind of money or rescue several hundred kids from orphanages and be Mrs Pitts new best friend, but in the end, you do whatever it takes to make the daily grind better, and maybe when you've got the car stuff out of your system, then maybe it'll be time to save the world.

But by investing your money wisely now and letting the inflated price of the Zr1 come down to earth you would benefit in the long run. I for one paid cash for my vette and since its a want not a need i will not finance a want! Only needs are financed and a second home is a need since the return in 3-4 years will pay for the want in cash. Look the 2010 Zr1 already has upgrades from the 09 with new TC system and launch control!
I say get a Z06. Personally, I like the LS7 better. The ZR-1 is an awesome car, but a few mods on a Z06 will beat it no problem and you save Tens of thousands.
Would you like to have someone else make the payments on your new "Z"? You could use the extra money the tenants give you each month in rent to make the payment on the "Z" along with the money you save in taxes (depreciation on the houses) while the "Z" also depreciates. In 30 years the houses would be paid off and along with your social security if there is any you could live well. The "Z" couldn't buy you a cup of coffee, but the income from your houses could buy you whatever you like.

Don't get me wrong, I'm well invested and my kids "should'nt" have to worry, as long as obama does'nt screw things up too bad..... and the ZR1 is paid, I'm just one of those guys who have seen many people save all their pennies and find out they've been diagnosed with a serious illness and have months to live. Life is too short, live life with no regrets. Investing for the future is a must, particularly if you've got kids but live in the moment and enjoy life because we all have our time and for some it may come sooner than planned.

I agree, a 1000hp civic will whip my car any day let alone a moded Z06. Its all relative.... get what you can afford and be happy with it. For some its a veyron, others a zr1, while others like my nephew, a sporty cobalt, his first car, is the best out there bar none!
it's a car, it's life. do what makes you happy just don't regret it after you do it. I bought my Z06 3LZ loaded the day after my divorce. It made me happy....the divorce and the Vette...haha the divorce cost a hell of allot more though it's all just personal perspective.
Wow, congrats to some of you guyson your new ZR-1s. If my pockets were a tad deeper, I may find a nickel and some lint....
Congrats!!!

> Financially, what would push you over the edge to buy a 2010 ZR-1?
Probably nothing. I *could* buy one, but it just isn't worth it for me.
Part of the problem is that, having had my lowly C5Z on the track a few times, what I really need to improve my lap times is to become a better driver. Another few hundred HP and a better suspension and brakes are useless if I don't have the skill to take advantage of them. I suspect that applies to a lot of folks, they just don't realize they can't drive well enough to take advantage of the car .
