ive a deposit on one for over a year [# 1 at my dealer] i expect 2 mos. and putting the paper work through ,they tried bouncing 20 k over but i told them that aint happening.we shall see
I doubt any dealer in their right mind is going to sell at MSRP for the first 6 to 12 months at least. There are far too many profiteers that are eager to buy at MSRP and then flip the car for a premium on Ebay. They did it at the C6Z introduction and no doubt are lined-up to do it again on the ZR1. Though I will never buy the car at a market adjustment, I can no longer blame the stealerships for selling at market price because to do otherwise allows too many others to profit at the expense of GM and the dealership. The principle of supply & demand can not be rescinded so I am committed to waiting a couple of years to be able to buy at MSRP. Market pricing premium really does not add value to the car, it just simply adds to the amount of depreciation in the initial two years of ownership.

And the sad part about it....theres always a fool out there that has more money than sense that will pay the price.....gotta love it.
That is so very true. It's all about bragging rights and being "first on the block". The market adjustment premium spent for the cars will evaporate into thin air within the first couple of years. It simply does not fit into my value system to throw away money like that.
It's all about what you are willing to pay. If you have the money and want the car go ahead and buy it. Don't knock someone that is willing to pay over MSRP for it.

Another Hear Hear. I agree. Just because some can't afford to pay more than sticker, doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. Market value is market value. A car is worth what someone will pay for it. Just like anything else in life.

I can't imagine the ZR1 getting within sniffing range of MSRP for at LEAST the first year! The Z06 didn't - and there were a lot more of them built! Of course, nobody has a crystal ball - but the people who are jockeying to buy them at MSRP right now are: a - walking around with their heads in bubbles, b- speculators who will dump them immediately on Ebay (and bash the dealers at the same time for wanting a market adjustment!).
Stay tuned - I'm sure we will all be following the trials and tribulations of the ZR1 in the coming months.
Right or wrong it is silly to pay more for something than what it's worth. I remember the old ZR1 in the 90's and guys were paying over then too. Five years later you couldn't sell them because the starter alone was $700.!!! and no one wanted to maintain the car. Even now there is a guy at my local car show selling for a very reasonable price who can't sell for two years! Parts are very expensive. It may be different this time around I'll agree but if you paid 20-60 grand over sticker and got rear ended and totaled two blocks from the dealership what do you think your insured for??!! When you sell it or get an insurance payout that market value is not even on the table it's gone!
