Who's Buying a ZR1?

Ok, most of the info and specs are out on the 2009 ZR1.
Production starts 5 weeks from tomorrow. Best as I know, GM hasn't released MSRP yet. None the less, who's buying a ZR1?

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1?

I am on a long pre-order list since prior to the Christmas holidays with one of the big nation-wide dealers and forum supporter. I don't expect my opportunity will come up until the 2010 MY which will be just fine for me. Hopefully the price will come back down to earth by then. I am in really no hurry to sell the 06Z with 25k miles so far and appears to be the most reliable corvette I've owned to date.

Let's just say, they aren't taking very good care of a long term customer.

Translation, they are getting greedy, right?

Typical and shortsighted.

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1?

It is dealers all playing the same game. They are waiting to see how many bids they get and that is the reason they won't tell anyone the MSRP and options + option costs. They know exactly what they are doing and they are in the driver's seat on this position.

I am supposedly #2 on my dealer's list and all he will do is ask me how much I'm willing to pay. Why would I say how much I am willing to pay if I don't know the starting point which is MSRP.

In fact here's the dealer's email to me when I was trying to find out what was going on:

"...This ZR1 launch has been a mess man...I have not called anyone yet.......I will be in touch though....depending on what you are thinking price wise...let me know, will determine what I can or cannot do...."

See the game?? They all think those of us who have a bank account where we can write a check for the amount we are talking about are morons or something. What am I going to do?

I am supposed to get a call tomorrow from the Dodge dealer on a new Viper, if that tells you anything.

Funny thing is, I've made that call also.

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1?

I was at the factory 2 weeks ago for the Cruise Inn and saw 3 ZR1's on the assembly line while we were on the tour. Were they not production cars?

Wow, I am SOOO glad I don't have $100-grand to spend on a ZR-1. What a pain.

(Someone give me a ride in one, pleaseeeee!)

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1?

Local friend of mine is supposed to take delivery of his Challenger SRT-8 next week. Funny thing is, he knows what the MSRP is, but the dealer won't tell him what they are going to charge him for it. To say he is pissed is an understatement! If they get crazy with the "availibility adjustment" he's gonna tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine! I know it's not a ZR1, but the circumstances are the same! Another reason why everyone hates stealerships!

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1?

I am number one on the dealers list, put money down over a year ago. With the economy the way it is and GM sales down, I think the hype will be more so than the C6 Z06. Production numbers are all over the map. I have read from 900 up to 2000 and just recently a 1000 units will be built.

Well what were they then? I and about 6 other buddies can totally verify that there were indeed ZR1's on the line being assembled as well as 2 completed cars in the building while we were on the tour. Are they not going to be sold, and just pre production cars?
