Agree with you Norm 100%

What ever happened to the corvette being the "best bang for the buck"?

Hell you can slip into an 08 viper for mid to high 80's here in Texas.

Not to mention you can find a used 06 viper coupe cheaper then you can get some used 06' ...

GM knows die hard corvette fans will pay any amount of money regardless of what it is.

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1?

I'm #1 at the same dealer that sold me their first 06 Z at MSRP. I have been told that I will get the ZR1 for MSRP, time will tell.

Rob, yes, they are pre-production engineering vehicles. From what I heard at the ZR1 unveiling (April, at the NCM), production starts July 14.

Zip

These cars are not being built for retail customers. These cars will be driven by GM staffers to find defects and other problems.

Been there done that. Long time Ford dealer that I and my parents had used for YEARS burned the bridge with me over a 2000 Cobra R. They wanted 10K over, and finally did me the grand favor of saying that they would lower it for me to only 5K over. I refused and walked out. Since then there have been 5 new Fords purchased - soon to be 6 - and none of them from that dealer. They have lost their 5K of additional dealer greed several times over. I have not and will not ever pay over MSRP.

Screw 'em Norm. They deserve it. And make damn sure they know it when you walk out for the last time.

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1?

It seems that stealerships can't see past the tips of their noses. They don't see the future business even based on the past business. They are nothing short of thieving low life’s. Just when I think I found a dealership that is work sticking to, they go and pull something like this. That's okay. My money spends pretty well at other places.

Btw, my stealership visits this website.

Rob,

Yes that is what happens to all the pre-production cars they make. Back in the day some of them got sneaked out, but they crush em all now. At least the parts they cannot strip off

I suspect my dealer hangs out on this site too but all I was asking for was give me the amount over what MSRP is going to be so I can decide.

I did receive a call back from the local Dodge dealer. He said no luck, Chrysler told them they could get me a Viper but they would have to purchase the $10k tool kit and send someone to training. The guy was kind of enough though he looked around in a 300 mile radius and found about 16 Vipers.

Norm - there are about six in stock down the road from you in Butler + they have four ACRs on order. Price for any of the ACR's? $110k - take it or leave it. That's the kind of dealer I like - give me a price and let me decide. I'm leaning towards locking in one of the ACR's, can't decide to go with the black with red driver's stripe or red with black drivers stripe.

And by the way - I have only owned Vettes for the past 23 years so going over to the dark side woud be a switch but at least this one dealer gives you the bottom line without all the hype.

Re: Who's Buying a ZR1? Not me as of today - Norm, here's what I just ordered

Well, I thought I would give my dealer one last try so I emailed him with this:

"Any more thoughts on what xxx will charge over MSRP for the ZR1? Or is that still up in the air?"

NO RESPONSE.

So, two hours ago I laid a deposit down for one of four Viper ACR's a dealer has coming in. The first one will be here sometime this month but he can't tell me when mine will be delivered, just sometime in the next two - three months. I can wait - here's what it will look like:

Oh and you know the good part. My wife convinced me to keep my Z! How great is that, I wasn't thinking about it until she recommended it. Guess that's part of us being married 41 years yesterday.
