Re: ZR1 Tops out at 205 mph!

Nice.... Where do you think that was video taped? There were two other vehicles on the road during that test? One was a truck. Was it open road or a track where they test MACK TRUCKS too.

Second, does anyone else think it took quite the time to reach that speed? The 996 I raced in Germany hit 206 mph and I don't think it took nearly as long to reach that speed.

(trust me, I know as I seen his tail light dim rather quickly)

Still impressive!

That test was conducted at a proving grounds in Papenburg Germany called ATP (Automotive Testing Papenburg, GmbH) on this high speed oval...

Re: ZR1 Tops out at 205 mph!

Am I imagining or did he down shift form 6th to 5th - then do the run from 100mph in 5th, and short shifted to 6th at about 165mph... then ran 6th to 200+?

I guess that will dispell myths about 6th gear being an overdrive not meant for high speed then.

I wonder if the real "time to 200mph" runs will need to be made in 5th gear.

Thanks Thats quite an impressive proving ground oval. I was wondering why he felt that confident to keep the gas pedal pegged in th ecurve. Too bad we don't have any proving ground over here except Interstate 10.

Re: ZR1 Tops out at 205 mph!

Yes, the official top speed of the C6 Z06 is 198 mph. The ZR1 is governed (limited) to 210 mph.

Re: ZR1 Tops out at 205 mph!

Yes, six gear is not overdrive in the ZR1, it is direct drive jest like the other five gears. It is top speed governed at 210.

That's not true. Fifth and sixth are in fact overdrive gears...

ZR1 gear ratios:

First: 2.29

Second: 1.61

Third: 1.21

Fourth: 1.00

Fifth: 0.81

Sixth: 0.67

Reverse: 3.11

Final drive ratio: 3.42
