After I put out the ZR1 footage I figured what's the first thing every one is going to be doing....hmmm...running the two side by side. So I made it easy on everyone.

I ran them last night but that makes it a whole lot easier to see that the GTR would be seeing tail lights........at a few of the major turns I counted easy thousand 1, thousand 2 before he hit the same point at the Z.
Our Corvette engineer is real good but not nearly as smooth as the Nissan Pro. Like I said in your other thread.....I think there is room for even lower lap times for the ZR1........and just think, they claim no special track tricks or tuning..........as they all will be delivered to the customers. Hmmmm.

Good video. With my count the GTR was 5 seconds slower than the ZR-1. I watched the ZR-1 driver making some gear selection mistakes comming out of some of the turns. It was obvious that he was not a professional, even he is a better course driver than I am.

I watched the post analysis of the trial runs, and the guys prefered the GTR over the ZR-1 even being slower. I do not know why. Each one with its own.

I can think of 3 reasons off the top of my head. It's less expensive, more exclusive than a Vette, and easier to drive fast for the novice driver. The ZR1 will probably be less forgiving and harder to handle for the non-professionals.

Both are incredible cars, but I think some people are putting WAY too much emphasis on the "Ring" as the new benchmark for performance. However, I have enjoyed reading the fanboys' comments from both laps. Very entertaining.

With so much more power available in the ZR-1 than the GT-R....very obvious even in the video.... you bet that more than a few seconds can be cut off of that lap time. And don't knock that driver at all.....the car is a SERIOUS handful, with plenty of potential untapped. This is no car for a novice to pretend they're Ron Fellows.

Nice to have both together. After watching that, I think the V-spec will be at about 7:23 or faster.

I think that vid is

A) the coolest thing ever on youtube rleating to cars and

B) the ultimate evidence that the GT-Rs Nissan got the impressive numbers with were juiced. Its losing to the ZR1 in the corners, not on the big final straight. Heck, its FASTER on the last straight than the ZR1, isn't it? And there is no way, no how a 480hp 3900lb car is as fast as a ZR1 on a straight starting from speed.
