Beat by a Dodge Extended Cab Duelie

Well, sort of. Coming home one night a few nights ago I pulled up beside a Dodge pickup with one of them there Hemis. Wasn't too concerned. He got on it, I got on it. He got me two lengths off the line. I was glad it was at night. I sort of figured it was an unfair race----he was going straight and the Beast was going down the road sideways. I had too much wind resistance. I have just got to get some tires.

Re: Beat by a Dodge Extended Cab Duelie

Hello Mike,
It has been a long time. The site looks different--even better--but I seem to recognize some of the names. I will have to post my experiences over the past year or so. Life has a way of catching up to you. I see you have a few ponies in the old black car. The Beast is truely a beast. John at 21CMC really made it go. Only problem is sticking it. It is a bitch to be beat off the line by my son's VW GTI VR6 and a Dodge P/U. I never had a light foot.

Hope you and the rest of the guys are well.

Jack

Jack,

Glad all is well! Just time for new tires. I had the same thing and didn't even know it till I took them off...No tread makes for a ridiculous time.

New tires and the car is a lot more fun. Not as dramatic but a lot faster.

I don't have quite as much hp as you but I just bought a set of TOyo proxi's ($762 delivered) Tires for less.com and they are much better than the bald michelins.

Welcome back Jack! Do tell us what you had done to your car to get you over the 500hp mark! Put some Nitto 555r D/R's on the back and you'll get some grip and leave the "wannabees" behind ya!
Hope you can make it to the fest in Oct.

Jimbo

Re: Beat by a Dodge Extended Cab Duelie

Thanks for the welcome. Life has been a little busy the last couple of years. Got kicked out of the firm (thank the Lord), got sued (came out ok) been flooded in most of this year (the Beast set so long the battery died), daughter graduated from Smith College (now living in a tent in Big Sur) the son flunked out of Southwestern (now living at home---again---crap). Navyphrog and I are trying to make plans for the fest. I know Cindy and I are going to Ireland sometime in October (going to sit in a Pub and drink whisky for a week--may come back, may not).

As some of you know, I had 21CMC put heads and cam in the car. Some of you saw it at the fest two years ago. Since I have never been accused of having a functional brain, I decided I needed more power. Took it back to John Page at 21CmC and put a 427 in the Beast. I am running BFG KDs and they are great dry tires. However, just really scary power to the wheels. I need a mini-tub and wider wheels and tires. Any suggestions.

A short update. Glad to see some of you older codgers still hanging around. Haven't grown up yet

Jack

Hi Jack

I see you're making lemonade or is it lemon pie?

Re: Beat by a Dodge Extended Cab Duelie

Great to see you're still having fun, Jack. My advice would be to place a block of wood under the accelerator. This helps when the TC doesn't.
