So, I found myself on the Dulles Toll Road (local wide-open highway just outside of Washington DC) last Wednesday on my way to lunch when a god-awful looking white with blue and red stripes Porsche GT3 RS pulled up next to me. The driver of the Porsche looked over and gave me the high sign to roll down my window. We slowed to 35, and yelled back and forth to determine we would do a 50 mph to 150 mph run from 2nd gear. Three taps of my horn at 50, then full throttle. We waded through a bit of traffic, got to a clean spot, then did our damage.
The Porsche pulled harder from 50 to 100, creeping to a half a car length. From 100 to 150, I pulled harder but, was only able to make up about ¾ of his gains. At 150, his nose was just a bit ahead. Had we been running to top speed, I believe I would have pulled ahead.
Not often you get to go toe to toe in the real world with a heavy weight. Very cool.

P.S. This story may, or may not, be "factually accurate" depending on the laws in my local jurisdiction.
The GT3 RS do not outrun a 997 TT and I kill a few of 997 TT this past weeks so I'm a little lost here... but like they say "anything can happen on the streets"

Seen a few of the boys with blue in Germany and they are very impressive track cars. They come from the factory ready for NurburgRing! Roll cages, lots of HP, etc..... I got a small stint with one in Frankfurt and he thought he was going to leave me hanging..... SURPRISE! Hahahaha But, I did meet my match with an AWD 996 TT who left me squinting at his tail lights.....
After my sacrifice, he said he hit 331 kph...... or roughly 206 mph.

Yea, I agree. Have killed a few 997 TT off the stoplight myself. Maybe the roll-on rather than the standing start take-off? Who knows, the guy could have been modded.
Anyway, still looking for him whenever I am out for a rematch.

Those TTs can be monsters. They sound stock too (some of them).

My Sacrifice and gluttony for punishment....
(Notice my shifting issues) At :40 seconds, I started to slowly close and hold, but shifting again I lost major ground. I had a clutch pedal stop on the clutch pedal but it was not adjusted correctly making my shifts very hard. Each shift I lost ground. But I had fun!
Glenn, just so you know, that wasn't an RS. The rear wing is obviously regular GT3, there is no euro spec rear rollcage, and it didn't have the RS side decal (it says "GT3" but there's no "RS" after it). There are also other minor differences, some of which can't be seen in the video.
Note: The U.S. spec versions do not come with the rear roll cage.
Just some comments related to this thread. We have a customer with a 2007 GT3 RS and a 2008 GT-2 both with factory ordered color matched roll cages. It's only money....The GT2 easily rolls A Lambo LP640 ...at least up to 200 mph. Proven on I-75 this weekend.
Another customer this last weekend...997tt with about $15G worth of software and headers.....10.80's at Moroso {130mph} smoked my friends totally stock 2008 ZO6....11.4's at 123mph three times. I hate seeing these cars drag raced but it does provide a measure of performance.
