(IDIOT KIDS) out here on the weekends..I'm not exaggerating either...there's so many damn ricers doing donuts and drinking, doing race's one after another..kids all lined up on the sides..Oh, don't forget the MotorCycle CrotchRocket idiots too showing off doing wheelies and BS..
It makes it bad for us Vette/Viper/Porsche/Cobra/etc. etc. that jus wanna get together and talk abt cars..wherever we go and hand out sooner or later the damn Ricer's follow and ruin it...
The cops try and shut it down..but 3 or 4 cops and over 1000 Ricers!!!! Sucks..

Your exactly right and Law Enforcement is trying jus what you advised.
Your caught street racing - car is impounded..your goin to the county Hilton.
Your caught spectating - you could be going to the county Hilton and citation...
Problem : 5000+ Ricers vs. Few Deputies/FHP = Advantage Ricers!!!
-----------------------------
Boy you should see'm too..DEFIANT, SMART A$$, RIGHT UP IN THE COPS FACES TOO..THEY THINK ITS FUNNY..We were never like that..Cops come around and we were like "$hit our pants and respectful"..did'nt wanna get into any trouble. Not these RICERS!!!! NO SIR...
-------------------------------
Last week 3 Vipers/Ford GT/Blk C6ZO6(mine) and a Buddies Porsche GT3RS..we're jus talking...then here comes a line as far as you can see..Baaauuuur Baaaaauurrrr...Here they are..they crowd around us..abt 100 or so...then 200 etc. etc.

Talking to my Viper buddy I look over the Z is parked next to the Viper..their standing around the side fender 3 facing the Viper 3 facing the Vette..whispering, giggling..I said "Scott, look these lil SOB's are gonna try and rip the SRT or ZO6 emblems off our cars!!!! We go over, they took off...
Lucky for them they did'nt try it...

Re: Street Racing kills 7

I don't know how people that have to clean up scenes like that do it. Seems like it would just take some of the life out of you or maybe it makes you appreciate it a little more.
I have a feeling the person driving the Crown Vic was intoxicated. That's mostly who you share the roads with in the wee hours. Stupid drunks trying to find their way home

Re: Street Racing kills 7

Looks like the deaths were not caused by the cars that were racing, but rather some fool coming down the road without his lights on and plowing into the spectators.

And then another death caused by a tractor trailer trying to avoid the accident caused by the guy with no lights on.

This should present some interesting legals issues...

Re: Street Racing kills 7

Also headline should not read "Street Racing Kills 7" because street racing did not kill anyone in this instance.

Perhaps it would be more accurate for the line to read "7 Killed By Dumbass Without Lights On While Standing on Side of Road at Night to Watch Street Race."

I guess that jouranist needs to make a buck too. So he should just make up a sensationalistic headline.

Yeah this is not far from me. I don't think Andy got the details straight. It was a car that hit the crowd and then a tractor trailer. Not the people involved in the race. The spectators got in the road to watch. To bad really. The local tracks are closed for the winter. Don

Re: Street Racing kills 7

Something ain't right. Driving in the dark with no lights and the guy had no clue what the smoke was, but proceeding to drive through it fast enough to kill that many people and take 150' to come to a complete stop. Freakin' idiot!

Well maybe more like "8 street race spectators standing in the road Killed By Dumbass Without Lights On." Although a normal person would not usually expect a crowd of people standing in the road at 0300, it is still the drivers fault. Would it make any difference if it was cows or sheep that had gotten out and were in the road. It is every drivers responsibility to pay attention to what's in front of them. It's bull if the driver(or drivers counting the other truck) that ran people over doesn't get charged.

I don't buy the "smoke" as being a contributing factor.

You would need no wind and a crazy amount of smoke.

Seems like this theory is the only way to find some sort of liability against the racers.

Let's see if the racers are charged. Ten bucks on them being acquitted.

As for civil liability against the racers--I think this is also a stretch or maybe not.

Let's wait and see what facts develop.

Don, your right! Sorry, I did'nt research it enough..jus the surface and frm my own experience out there seeing what I do on the weekends as prev. mentioned started my "anger" meter..
You can also take the crowd out of the equation that was spectating then there would be alot less fatalities probably..
Tracks are closed for the winter, right again. Another problem is kids/people don't wanna drive out to BFE usually to the track...its a problem..Sadly 8 fatalities now...thanks for the info Joe..
