11.556--New Best for Z06 with Just Halltech Tric and Drag Radials

A group of Z06 racers ran at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, (Southern) Maryland today in MIR's second to last Test & Tune of the season. The track prep was made superb by more full sun than had been forecasted. But the higher temps (upper 60s) raised the density altitude to the 1000'-1200' range throughout the time I was running.

The track was hooking better than I've ever experienced. I had three runs in the first hour. The 60s were 1.716 (11.71 ET), 1.697 (11.65 ET), and 1.647 (11.55 ET). The shifts on the first two passes were dead-hooking with NO discernible spin. So on the third pass, I decided to go to full-bore powershifts to 2d and 3d, plus the usual powershift to 4th. The great prep rewarded that decision and produced my best ET to date. Here are the splits:

60'..............1.647
330'............4.814
660'............7.419 @ 93.24
1000'..........9.663
1320'........11.556 @ 117.69

Anyway, after the run I took the time slip to the MIR tower for certification. After reviewing their computer records of this and my other runs, an MIR official verified and signed my slip. I'll post the slip, hopefully by tomorrow evening. The run was also witnessed by several Forum members, including "Tracy in Alexandria," "02 Z06 Racer," and "Silver Bullet."

Had the density altitude been less than 200', the car probably would have broken into the 11.4s today. At Cecil County Dragway recently I ran an 11.61 at a DA of 62'. On that run my incremental time from 60' to 1320' was 9.852. Today at a DA of 1000'-1200' that same incremental was slower by about six one-hundredths. So I hope the weather next Sunday at the final T&T produces a very low DA. I'd love to have a shot at being thrown off MIR, an IHRA track on the last day of the season.

It was a good day.

Ranger

Here is the certified time slip for the 11.55 run:

No need to certify that ticket I was there and that run was plain awesome! The track hooked really good today as I was able to run an awsome time in my in my mildly modified 03 Z06. On the factory F1 tires I was able to post a 1.736 short myself and the rest of the run was as follows.
reaction:.619
60' :1.736
330' :4.913
1/8th :7.515
mph :95.19
1000' :9.744
1/4 :11.632
mph :120.9

It was a good day to be at MIR!

Ranger, major kudo's bro.....
Those are unreal traps/ET's..........unreal.

Baron,

Don't feel bad, you should be me.......

I took my car out last night for the very first time....

The best I could do was a 13.170 / 110.91............
Pitiful, 0-60's, 2.3's..

After several runs, and not getting any better....

I got disgusted, and asked the resident Pro around my neck of the woods...to take a shot......... ( Wes, WA 2 Fst)

He promptly ran a 12.7 / 112.........
Cut .5 off my best....1st rattle out of the box........

So, as you can see I suck..........

I will let him tell of his exploits, his traps were UNreal.......

Jamie, 11.63@120.90 great run. Sorry I forgot to mention you in my post.

Ranger here are my splits from today

60: 1.838
330: 5.150
660: 7.826@92.67
1000: 10.108
1320: 12.02@117.47

Last time you did a comparison I was 1.5-2.0mph off at 1320. today I was only .57mph off at 660 and .22mph off at 1320. Maybe the K&N was worth at little. I'm still way off in ET. I need to buy DR's

Great times Ranger...Thanks for the info today...I was able to get the same price on the 12X17's...
Jamie, great 60 ft for F1's...That track must be prepped to the max... What kind of "mild mods" do you have?

Hi Ranger,

Congrats on the new best... Your D man.. I went up to Mason Dixon today, DA was not so good as it was in the 2000 + range but still got off some some good runs..

I finished up in second place in my class, and Charlie won his class.. guess the Vettes had a good showing..

Again way to go.. just wish we had better DA's...
