2nd trip to the track with my Z

Well, the first time I couldn't muster up better than a 13.01. This time, my best run was a 12.75 @115. My 60' times are still horrible at 2.25. The car is bone stock on street tires.

I figure, once I mount the street slicks, I'll be able to bring that time down considerably. Am I safe assuming that?

I broke out during the second round of elimations, but I wasn't letting off of the gas, 'cause I knew I was running good. The trick is, I needed to shift at redline... there's a lot of power between 6000 and 6500.

Thanks for all the well wishes and support!

David

David,

Congrats on the new time.. Yep it's hard not letting off the gas.. But that's bracket racing, ya have to learn how to..

When you say street slicks. Just what do you have in mind??

Et Streets or BFG's drag radial's.. If your talking about Drag radials, yes you can and I have seen 1.8x's on them.

Just a lot of practice, and more practice..

Et Streets, 1.5x's 1.6x's but most of those are with 3.90 or 4.10 rears..

Shifting, yes near red line.. will net you the best times. Z06 stock with drag radials should net you with 11.8x's 11.9x's.

Good luck,

Ernie

So I guess I'm good......1.66 on BFG drag radials.

Nothing. It's stock, except for the 'zip-tie' mod.

Cool. If you were running at etown yesterday, your mph is very strong. Most stock cars were running less mph. Keep us posted when you plan on going to the track.

I'm going to the next Corvette Challenge on September 4th. I hope it's another cool day. I was very happy with my performance.

Hopefully, I'll see you guys down there!

Rob, you had a set of 17" tires for sale, right? Let me know.

Just a note...if you plan on using ET Streets, have a hardened halfshaft installed. The ET Streets provide a lot of grip and there have been stock halfshafts snapped when launching at the strip. As a matter of fact, I believe Cartek has a special on gears and halfshafts going right now. And it can be done on a one day turn around.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone, but I have BFG drag radials and after reading many of the posts here I am considering E/T Streets next time because they are supposed to be easier on the output shaft. Again, I don't know from personal experience, just going by what I've read here. Supposedly E/T Streets have a soft sidewall which some claim is easier on the output shaft.
