My Car is almost complete....I need some advise on tires though. I am going to be buying another set of stock rear rims... and putting the tires that i will be racing on the street with....i dont really care about any rain factors i just need the best traction for 1\4 street racing on a set of street tires.
I was considering the nitto's but my tire guy advised me to get some mickey thompson et's....I like the nittos but if im just gonna be swapping ims when i go out should i just get the ET's? All and any input is gladley accepted!

Difficult to answer. What is 1/4 mile street racing?? Sounds like a paradox. I would hope the 2 aren't associated with one another. I hate when the newapapers say that 2 innocent kids were killed drag racing! So, lets keep the 2 separate.
Now, Your implying using mt et streets for the street. That would be running slicks on the street, which is okay but poses some risks. Tire blowout, unstable at high speeds wth stock tires up front, difficult in turns, deadly in rain(you should care), etc..
So, I would be careful about running slicks on the street.17" MT et streets would hook the best of all tires. But, I would go wth nitto 555r2 for the best of both worlds as street tires. Bfg drag radials will hook the 2nd best but wear out quickest. Mt has a drag radial that is not out yet that would hook great but would be 17" tire and fit on front stock rim. Goodluck, and be safe.

If its for racing only purposes and you will keep your runs limited to fourth gear than ET streets is the way to go!
I chose the nittos 555RII but thats becuase i wanted improved handling as well as improved traction(granted the traction improvment is not comparable to a full time slick ie ET streets)
Well.....Thnx for the info.....Since ill be keeping the stock rims and tires for when im not going out to blow the doors off cobras. I think ill grab some ET's.....I knew they were great for traction but wasnt sure about the nitto's. I kinda wanted to keep it as stock looking as possible. Reason I had said 1\4 street racing is because some people take the term street racing in VERY different ways. I just wanted to make it clear what i was asking for...hey thnx again for the advice! CANT WAIT TO HOOK UP!

I run Nitto 555R's (drag radial, not RII's) on my car. They hook very well in lower gears, even with the power mine makes. I also take winding roads just as fast as I did with the stock F1s. Wouldn't dare try that with a DOT cheater slick (ET Streets). But, since you're going to swap them out to race, that'd be fine to go with the stickier tire (assuming your driveline can handle zero wheelspin on hard launches).

the bfg's are junk..if you get stuck in the rain...you are in deep trouple...dont go over 40 mph...and keep the inflation very low....the middle of the tire is a slick...they are crud!!!
i learned the hardway and almost wrote off my friggin car...

Are you guys actually hooking up 500 rhp on a 305 section tire?
If I lug the car from a roll and then stand on it... yes, it hooks up great. Now that its getting a bit cooler, it doesn't hook in 1st, but it hooks great from a 40+mph roll in 2nd. I raced a crotch rocket from a roll yesterday... my car hooked great.
A 305 Nitto 555R (I don't have personal experience with the R2 compound) is certainly stickier than a 335mm wide Pilot Sport or any other typical Z-rated street compound.
