Ok, went to Atco last night. Had a weird feeling about running. Couldn't get anyone to go. My plan was to take a warm up pass to get a feel for the track and then park it until 9:00 and get a pass at 9pm and then one more at 10pm for the best weather. The humidity was rising but the temp was dropping so I knew the DA would improve as the night went on. Lined up at 7ish the DA was right at +1000 and the track and the starter let me line up with the slicks cars which was cool. Tripped the second yellow and quickly got rpms to about 5800 and punched it. Came out angry but smooth. Ran 11.2 @ 123.50 with a 1.48 60'. Felt good, no powershifting and didn't feel like I nailed the shifts so I was optimistic I could go lower. Parked it until 9pm. The weather was getting cooler. It dropped about 10 degrees. Lowered my shift light 100 rpms because I decided that I would try powershifting this next run. Checked tires,9.5 cold. Thought it was a bit low but I said What the hell?Staged with a gamblers car, could barely here anything because he was soo loud. Took it up to 6000 and slammed it... Pop! Next thing I know, I'm at the 1/8 mile trying to help the tow truck hook the chain to a secure place under the car. Needless to say the track was hooking well. The car had been dialed in pretty well as of late. I was hoping for an 11.0 @124+ but, but not this night. I had an eerie feeling the whole night. But at least thats behind me. Got home around 1:30 and hit the hay pondering what damage I may have caused this time...................... To be continued.
Hey Don: Thanks for the follow up calls.
No problem. I hope I didn't wake you all up this morning. Hopefully the fix on the transaxle won't be to painful, and it will come back to you much stronger than before.
Sorry I couldn't make it to Atco last night to be with you. Due to a tight time schedule, I went to E'town which was closer for me. BTW, I ran a personal best of 12.3 @ 116, with a crummy 2.06-60' and spinning them down the track. These F1's suck, but they won't be on for much longer.
Sorry to hear about the breakage Rob, I've been towed from both Atco and Etown and it sucks everytime. Hope it's nothing major. I've had that same "POP" turn out to be a $300 output shaft, and I've had it turn out to be that I broke damn near every part of the driveline. Good luck.
Rob, That sucks. It seems like it's been one thing after another. Glad Don was there with you. He's great to have around when something goes wrong!!! Guess you won't be taking your car up to Bill's....
