I just purchased my Z06 two weeks ago. However, I have been drag racing mustangs for about ten years.
When drag racing a stock Z06 on the factory tires, what do you all recomend (i.e. tire pressure, traction control, active handling, shift points, launch rpm's, etc.)
Second question: if I want to put a set of drag raidals 315/35/17's on the car, but still want to retain the stock appearance, will I be able to put a pair of stock Z06 front wheels on the back with the drag radials mounted on them (i.e. will they clear the brakes in the back and do the offsets work when used in the back)?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just put Nitto NT555R drag radials 315 X 35R X 17 on ZR1/Grandsport 17 X 11 X 50 wheels purchased from Corvette Mike in CA. I'm going to Capitol Raceway in Crofton, MD today for the CCA/All Corvette Day Drag Races. I guess I'll find out how they work. With the 11" wide wheels nothing has to be tied back. I believe if you get 12" wide wheels you do. I don't think using the front wheels in the back will work very well....wheels are too narrow...only 9.5".

Taking your second question first, according to his posts, PowerShifter is running BFG 315s mounted on 9.5" x 17" Z06 front rims. He seems to make them work just fine. I run mine on 12" wide wheels from CCW.
On the stock F1SCs, try 24-28 psi and experiment. Put the fronts at 42-44.
I run in Competitive Driving mode. Limits the worst that can happen and has not adversely affected my times.
I shift to 2d and to 3d at about an indicated 6300. To 4th at an indicated 6400-6500.
As for launch rpm, depends on many factors relating to the track, weather, tires, etc. But on the F1SCs I usually start at 2500 and adjust up or down by 300 rpm increments until I find the best hook.
Also of concern is trying to keep the car hooked on the shifts. Perhaps PS will talk about that.
Did you put CCWs all the way around or just on the rear??? Any pics??? I'm thinking about doing the same but I would putting them on all (4). Also, where did you pick up your Nittos from?
SilverstareZ06,
I drive like Ranger stated above but I leave my tires at 30lb. 45lb would help in the fronts. The best way to help your time is practice!!!!!

She bought the ET's before we ever raced it. Our track is very slippery (Carlsbad), and the ET Streets make launching a breeze, no wheelhop, little spin, easy launching, no need to heat the tires. Just clean them off and stage. Why go dancing in hiking boots?
With our SS Camaro they were good for 0.3 reduction over Nitto's.
Thanks you guys for the input. Practice is a given. What I wanted to know, was what was working for everyone. To that end, many of you helped. I have never drag raced on a radial. I started with M&H cheaters and moved on to slicks. I am used to heating them up for a minute. Staging on a pro-light, releasing the trans-brake, and riding the two-foot high wheelie.
To summarize, looks like the fronts should be aired to about 44 and the rears to about 28/30 with the stock tires. Launch at about 2800 and slip the clutch a little. Shift at about 6300/6400. Don't powershift to second or third, but powershift fourth.
As for the drag radial, nittos or bfg's, I can mount them using front z06 wheels in the back (about $1000), although my contact patch might not be as good as it would with a wider wheel. Alternatively, I could drop a couple grand and buy the CCW drag kit w/ the skinnies and the et streets. Of course with the drag radials or the et streets, I will be able to launch harder and powershift gear that I would not on a radial.
I just dynoed the stocker at 354 rwhp up here. I'll let you guys know what kind of et's I can get out of this thing before I start tweeking on it.
Oh, and one more thing. I agree with the why go hiking in dress shoes (or something like that). However, I am planning on running an event in November where I have to run a regular radial with a tire wear of at least 180 (no drag radials or road race tires allowed).

I will guess 13.2 if you are racing at LVMS.

Where did you buy those wheels? Web site?
How much? Whats the size? What size et streets?
BTW - its cool to see another female into racing and fast cars.
Thanks
Sg
I bought them from http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/pro...l.cfm?iid=601.
I was in a hurry I wanted for a big race event we had planned. Ordered them on a Monday and where here in CA from FL and installed by Friday
They are made by john @ccwheel 888 577 0144 daytona beach, fl
I paid over $2500 for the set. Worth every penny to me They are 16 X 5 in the front and the ET Streets are 16 X 11.5
Yeah I love running the car. In fact I got a sitter and we are off for another weekend of racing
Well, I would like to see some kind of a 12 at LVMS, even though it is an altitude track. But just in case, I just ordered a number of bolt-ons and a single-stage spray kit. That should get me down into the low 12s on these stock radials.
