After hearing so many great things about the Justin Bell racing school staff, It's a pleasure having you here.
So let me be the first to ask a question about your driving school .
Would the Justin Bell staff ever consider having a weekend course for ZO6 owners. Allowing participants the opportunity to drive their own cars with an instructor such as those coordinated by the BMW, Porsche, etc. clubs? A course not so much geared toward racing but rather understanding the ZO6 capabilities. The key is learning from those who understands what the ZO6 can do.
When I attended the BMW driving course a few years back, when I had a bimmer, it was good because I had an instructor who had the same car and new what the car was capable of with certain driver inputs. Now with the ZO6, I'm not sure how many instructors attend that actually drive/own a C5 or C5/ZO6 and I'm yet to here of a Corvette driving school, local to Florida.
Alex, first of all, Justin is a terrific guy. I enjoyed meeting him and letting him drive my car last year at the fest.
My only problem with Justin is his misinterpetation of physics. The shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. I tried to explain to him that having all those orange cones in the way only made it more difficult to get a fast time across the parking lot.
Couldn't see why everyone was taking such a long time to get to the finish when I could get there in a matter of seconds (if they'd take those damn cones out of the way).
He advised against me taking his school. I can't understand why
Alex,
Tell Justin that FRC Tom is still waiting for the decals he made up for me.
Don't make me drive down there.
Were you instructing Nov. '01 when a group of us were there?
I'm going to be down in Florida in August but I see the School down there isn't offered when I am there. Is it worth it for me to take the 1 day course. I'm not sure I would utilize all that I could learn over a 3 day or to get a SCCA rating.
Would the 1 day make me a more confident driver in my Z as "blu" wrote above?
Thanks again.
S

Say Bluzbrutha,
I just confirmed a reservation with Alex for the VIR July 23 - 25 and can tell you that the school uses Z06's and coupes. They have dropped the Camaro from the sessions and concentrate strickly on the vette and its potentials. I'm really siked up for this and it's only March, I'll be a basket case by the time July gets here!!!! I'm going to learn as much as I can and Alex has said that after the 3 day school it's possible to have your SCCA license. Anyway, if nothing else I'll have some stories to tell!!
Mike
Those are the dates that I'm attending the school! I'm just as anxious as you are! I simply can't wait for July. I'm also returning to a firearms training facility in W. VA the day after the driving school ends, so July is SUPER exciting for me!!
I told Alex that I'd like to try for my SCCA license. Are you going to attempt it?
Hey kool deal,
As for the license, Alex has talked me into it also. It'll allow us to partake in any sanctioned events. I don't know how often I'll be doing any club racing but you never know, right??!!!
Better to have it ...
I'm looking forward to meeting you there. I really think this will be an excellent vacation. And what a followup for you!! Almost wish I was following. Anyway, about to jump out of my skin...so until then - be safe.
